Just watching MSU vs Tenn. Tommy looks like nothing more than a very average college QB. If he was still at PSU, I am not sure he would be playing ahead of Will Levis. I don’t believe for a second that our coach didn’t see this playing out just as it has.

Shrader is back in now at QB. Maybe Tommy's chance to play professionally would have been as a TE hybrid type position? I feel bad for the guy.

He looked sharp at the beginning of the year. Haven't seen this latest game. A bruised shoulder and a leg injury later and I would not be surprised if he is now looking at the rush before the play down field.

It's all unfortunate. He now has no time for recovery and growth. This is why you don't wait until your last year to get the nod. Better to move on to another program than to sit the bench or play some other position.

Contrary to what some believe, he was actually perhaps too loyal to Penn State. We do know that he had a hot girl friend, so that was probably part of it.

The one game I am actually rooting for MSU they are losing.

However this alsp proves my theory that UF isnt thay good.

Sec has a lot of pretenders this year. Big Ten has a better top end.

Nonsense. Stevens would have had a better chance to succeed at if he stayed at PSU. There have been lots of successful 1 year QBs. Doesn’t matter if Moorhead coached at PSU before, he had to learn a new scheme and work with new players at MSU rather than playing with familiar players at PSU. I don’t wish him any bad luck, but some of the comments when he left about how he was treated unfairly by Franklin and would enhance his pro prospects by leaving were laughable. Maybe he realized he wasn’t as good as Clifford.

You kind of contradict yourself.

How could he have had a better chance to succeed if he wasnt as good as Clifford?

LdN

Give it to Stevens. He knew he would likely lose out to Clifford and he found another program to go to. JoMo apparently made a mistake by not going with the guy he had coming back.

By the looks of the Miss St sites JoMo is in a world of trouble.

I said the same thing for several years.

BUT... but... he had difficulty staying healthy playing at quarterback where there is limitations on physical abuse during practice. How well would he have faired at playing Tight End - hybrid or not, where you become open target for Linebacker U's finest on every practice rep? Sorry, I just cannot envision this being a viable alternative for Tommy.

Mississippi State doesn't have the recruiting prow that Penn State has...

Meaning he would have had more to work with in PSU...

Where are the guys saying he will get drafted higher than Trace?!!! Injury prone h back

I wish Tommy the best and think he made a mistake not finding a MAC school or some passing
program to transfer to. Didn’t need the SEC pounding running The Miss State offense

That was my prediction before he decided to transfer, but I also did not expect that he would sustain more injuries and for them to happen so quickly.

Both of those injuries (right shoulder and leg) occurred after pass protection broke down. The shoulder injury could very well have been the last straw after taking a pounding running the ball in JoMo's system. The fall that seemingly caused that injury looked routine. We've seen him take much worse.

He would have been better-served to head to a school with a pro-style system and a decent offensive line. MSU is neither. It's unfortunate for the kid. No one should relish what has happened here. If it makes you feel better or vindicated that Tommy is on the bench again, well then you are no better than scum.

No makes me feel better for the incessant crap I had to read about Trace every week for a guy who showed nothing. Interesting none of those morons are posting now so keep the scum comments to yourself

Tommy’s dad did him no favors. I understand that his dad is going to be defensive when it comes to his son. I’d probably be the same way. But, he spent more time criticizing PSU than promoting his son’s talents, and that never plays well.

Trexler (or something like that?) also was on that bandwagon. He was insufferable when Tommy transferred.

Tommy talked about the transfer on the Breneman podcast. He left out some of the conversations with the coaches which is understandable but he mentioned that playing a hurt McSorley over him against Iowa affected the way he thought the coaches viewed him. Also I believe he mentioned his disappointment at not playing at all against Rutgers. It sounded like those decisions lingered in his mind.
