(1) I have done a number of searches and can find a lot of info on the transfer portal (mostly football related) but I can't find anything resembling a student applicants list for wrestling. Anyone out there have a pointer to the proper URL. At least it might prove entertaining to check every few weeks during this long dessert run to November.

(2) Now that the season has come to a close what's the latest on the mystery 125 transfer? Unless it's a top 10 guy, do we even care? Teske should prove pretty solid, and I am hopeful the year adds some muscle and he makes the jump.

I know a lot of people think Brody is undersized and needs muscle but I saw he wrestled 133 at two tournaments this year. Is it possible he just wanted practice wrestling bigger kids?

It is about impossible to take anything away from this or draw any meaningful conclusions. Anybody on here saying different is blowing smoke out their butt.

I can give you an example from experience. Last year my guy redshirted. His university hosts a pretty big early season tournament that is important to them. Nothing like the Scuffle, but for his school, probably just as important. He wrestled 133 and had another tournament the following week and wrestled 133 there.

Later in the season he headed to Edinboro to get some mat time. Was weighing out at around 138 after practice without any diet restrictions at all. Decided to wrestle 141 rather than cutting the five pounds. A lot of the kids at his weight were also redshirting and weren't much bigger. But there were also some 133s there that looked significantly bigger. Kind of a grab bag.

This year he is 133 with absolutely no issues. If anything, he considered making a big cut to 125. (Thankfully he didn't)

Redshirt tournament weigh-ins may or may not have relevancy, but unless you're the wrestler, coach or someone close - you have no idea. It's entirely possible that Teske wrestled 133 late this season and is still not a big 125. It's also possible he is growing. No way to tell, but seeing him at the Scuffle I'd lean towards the former (not that the eye test is reliable either).

Transfer portal is only available to coaches and other authorized university reps. It isn’t a public site.

If your are going to gain GOOD weight (muscle) let he body add it without the strain of a restricted diet is the school of thought on this.

TL;DR version:

Ed Ruth shirted 184, then wrestled 174 for 2 years.

anyone on this board wanting to lose weight should do so. I'm with every college kid not wanting to lose weight for a tournament that is basically 'practice' (red shirt or JV). Do people out there really think (outside of 285) that the kids don't lose weight? Need to define what losing weight is.
If Brody is walking around 125 then he is very small for his weight class of 125. That is from the wrestler view. Coaches may want to instill different behavior.
