Trib Live article on Nolf ...

Great article, thanks Tom. I hope you can find more articles, particular ones on the other RSs from last year.

a new article on Jason, how he spent this summer, some insights on his redshirt year, etc. It's a very enjoyable article, which can be accessed at THIS LINK.

enjoy

Tom
Can't wait to see Nolf gas people out this year. A guy on TheMat (Perry) said that Nolf wasn't even close to Green. I had to laugh. Yes, takedowns were 3-0 in Green's favor (2 Green re shots), but Nolf was in on several shots he couldn't finish, down only 4-3 to start the 3rd, had Green taking suspicious 3rd periods breaks and doing everything he could to catch his breath, got a stall warning called on Green and should have gotten a point, and ultimately lost 7-4.

Now that's he's stronger he finishes those shots and Green would be in a world of trouble. Alas, JG has moved onto a promising FS career and we won't see that rematch.

"Not even close" describes a match like DT versus Kokesh - not a skinny true freshman like Nolf battling James Green.

Not even close might be an overstatement, but while watching the match I did think that Green was clearly the better wrestler. I didn't think it looked so close that I would expect him to turn the result around the next time. Nolf is obviously young and has a greater chance of rapid progression than someone like Green, but I did think that match was mostly Green.

That's fair to say, but I think Nolf has been on a rocket ride the past 2-3 years. Of course I'm wearing blue and white glasses, but I think I'm fairly objective. A stronger Nolf will be scary.

To play Devil's Advocate, many Hawk fans thought St John would truth his matches around with DT.

Green is great, but he lost several matches where I thought he was the better guy - perhaps due to fatigue (I need to look back at his matches).

I was the guy on hawkeyereport picking Nolf to beat Hall at junior WTT based off what I saw in their previous match. I think Nolf is a top 3-5 guy right out of the gate with a chance to make the finals (I'm a huge Imar fan, so I'll have to see them wrestle before I can consider putting him on the top of the podium). I was just giving my honest opinion on the match, and I agree that the enthusiasm for Nolf is justified.

I just rewatched Imar's Big 10 final against Ness 2 days ago. That was an awesome display.
