"In recognition of Penn State University's long-standing agricultural tradition, Saturday October 11th has been designated as Pennsylvania Agriculture Appreciation Day at Beaver Stadium.
All members of the PA agricultural community will be entitled to 4 tickets to Saturday's match up between the 4-1 Penn State Nittany Lions and the high-powered Indiana Hoosiers (Kickoff at 12 Noon on ESPN2).
All Penn Staters are encouraged to donate tickets to support this effort. Tickets for donation may be purchased at the reduced rate of $40 per ticket by calling 1-800-NITTANY. Donated tickets will be distributed through the Pennsylvania Grange and the Pennsylvania Dairy Association.
Among the Agricultural related activities planned for the weekend:
PSU Agricultural Society Trustees Donald Cotner, Keith Eckel, Abraham Harpster, Chris Hoffman, Betsy Huber, and Keith Masser will spread ceremonial fertilizer at midfield immediately before the start of the game.
Mr Masser will also participate in the pre-game coin toss.
Last week's contest with Army - Military Appreciation Day - resulted in a sell-out of Beaver Stadium. Penn Staters donated over 3,000 tickets to Military personnel, along with 12,000 tickets donated by Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics. The military personnel not in attendance led to an announced crowd of 107,387, of which, upwards of 70,000 may have actually attended the game."
No word yet on which of the 37 AADs will be responsible for tweeting out the "Sell out crowd for PSU/IU matchup" tweet.
