Two keys to victory for Michigan -

unfortunately his competition in what will be the bottom half of the bracket at 174 has some of the P4P heaviest hips in the tournament and there are no easy outs.

I hate to say it because I admire the kid so much, but i will not be shocked if he takes QF loss and then loses again consi semis to go back for 5/6th.
I'd like this post, but that would feel like I'm rooting for Kemerer to fail. Not so, I'm liking it because I'm in agreement.

Very simple Michigan wrestles like the did last week they will be tough to beat

Add Ragusin at #3 - ain’t happening

Exactly, the best way to look at this is weight-by-weight and how each team will do placement and point-wise relative to how they did at B1Gs:

125: Michigan (relatively same) PSU (probably better)
133: Michigan (significantly worse) PSU (relatively same)
141: Michigan (significantly worse) PSU (relatively same)
149: Michigan (significantly worse) PSU (worse)
157: Michigan (significantly worse) PSU (relatively same)
165: Michigan (significantly worse) PSU (same)
174: Michigan (significantly worse) PSU (relatively same)
184: Michigan (relatively same) PSU (relatively same)
197: Michigan (slightly worse) PSU (same)
HWT: Michigan (same) PSU (same)

Michigan wrestled great. But they won Big Tens because Micic beat the 14 seed by 2 points, the 13 seed by one point and the 10 seed by one point, at a weight with 7 AQs. That, combined with a MFF advancement, earned him 4th place and 13 team points. I have alot of respect for Micic, but I don’t see anything close to that team point output coming from him at NCAAs this year at 141.

this is totally fair, if not likely. he's wrestling with one arm against the most loaded field in the tournament. making the finals in this bracket would be a tall task for a healthy kem, coming from one of his biggest fans.

Technically Iowa, NC State and Northwestern control their own destiny as each has 10 qualifiers and the most max points. Thoughts?
Of the three, which fan base will be the most disappointed with their 3rd or lower place team finish? Thoughts?

...Brooks and Amine wrestled a close match at the dual and a close match at Big Ten's. There is no reason to think they won't wrestle another close match, which could go either way. (I do believe Brooks will win, so don't get me wrong.) If our guys wrestle the way we expect them to and Michigan's guys wrestle the way they did in the Big Ten Tournament, then it very well could come down to who wins: Brooks or Amine.

I want to believe the posters who have repeatedly said that Michigan won't perform as well at NCAA's. I hope that's the case, and if so, then we clearly control our own destiny and it may not be close. Let's be honest, RBY vs. Fix is going to be a tough one and again Brooks vs. Amine could go either way.

I don't see anyone else having a real chance. A guess an argument could be made for Iowa, but they will need some help to get there. I feel more confident now than I did at the start of the season (pre Berge, pre Hildebrandt--yes I know he didn't contribute at the conference tournament, and with so much uncertainty at 197).

With all that said, I do expect us to win!
Hidlay might have something to say about that. Would have much preferred for him to be on the other side of the bracket.

I agree with a few posts on this thread. I would say that Michigan and Penn State both control their own destiny. Yes, I know some teams have 9 or 10 qualifiers, but they realistically have no chance. Brooks and Amine wrestled a close match at the dual and a close match at Big Ten's. There is no reason to think they won't wrestle another close match, which could go either way. (I do believe Brooks will win, so don't get me wrong.) Control their own destiny: if Michigan does then so does Iowa and others. When the seedings come out, Ragusin and the others noted above won’t be seeded where they finished at Big Tens. They might not even wrestle above seed.

you could say the same of PSU but PSU will start the day with 4 #1’s a 2 and a 4. Brady will be seeded lower and expected to wrestle above seed. Bartlett….no expectations but Drew should wrestle above.

I don’t think it matters what Michigan does and thus can’t control their own destiny. There’s just not enough depth at the lower seeds. If we fall, then someone get lucky.

Im with you. I expect to win. :)

And you laughed at me back in October when I told you Kem wouldn’t be a finalist this year and probably at best finish 4th.

Why you do me this way J?

I feel pretty good that Aaron gets to train with DT in the room to prepare for NCAA'S. The PSU room will have him prepared for Hidlay and Amine. Iron sharpens iron.

Me too. But AB's road got more difficult because of his loss to Amine. Hidlay's a hard out.
We'll see in about 45 minutes. Myles could be the 2. There was no easy potential semi for 184. Obviously Keckeisen is probably the most preferable but he wrestled Aaron to a 3-2 decision earlier this year and has an insane attack rate (and did take AB down last year)

lol don't take a victory lap because he got hurt. if you told he he had one arm i would have agreed

Lol. Well, I did give you my reasons why I thought it. I said he’d be lucky just to be healthy and him being a. 7th year guy he may no longer be as good as he once was anyway because of being in that room for so long. Full disclosure though, I was told he was struggling with decision to come back so there was that little nugget that led me to make the prediction.

I made lots of predictions about how this season would shake out but DeSanto going ballistic at Nationals is the one that had the worst odds. I’m still somewhat confident tho. Lol
Don’t forget the standard disclaimer that you see with ads promoting a financial plan or investment: “Past performance is no guarantee of future results.” 😁

i'll never get fans rooting for a kid to fail off the mat. root against him when he's wrestling, but to hope that desanto has a meltdown is classless. there are bigger things in life than sports.
Nobody is rooting for ADS to fail. I actually like watching him wrestle and he seems like a decent kid when his adrenaline is at normal levels. We're only discussing the possibility of him costing Iowa a team point or two. Even you have to admit that the probability of this happening is greater than zero.

It’s greater than 0 for all 330 wrestlers who qualified too.

bet should be who will be the first to lose a point for Iowa... don't forget the coaches...

Since history says Terry can be on the mat touching the official while telling him to call the fall without penalty the chances the Iowa coaches get hit with a team point is nearly zero.
