Two keys to victory for Michigan -

i'll never get fans rooting for a kid to fail off the mat. root against him when he's wrestling, but to hope that desanto has a meltdown is classless. there are bigger things in life than sports.
I’d prefer one of the Brands to get docked a point and have it cost them a team trophy.

oh wait. That’s already happened.

He has competed in 2 NCAA’s and 3 Big 10’s with Iowa and hasn’t lost a team point in any of those tournaments.

Yeah but now he is crazy and cornered knowing he can't beat Roman and this is his last chance to win a NC and he knows he can't WIN! He is like a bobcat with his paw in a trap! He will explode with a fury of punches. I wouldn't put it past him to bring a firearm to mat and make Roman lie on the ground so he can pin him! HE'S THAT CRAZY!!!

Especially when he wrestles with both feet on the outside boundary line. If he wrestles Aaron in the middle, Aaron will get more TD's.
Dont play that game, you will never get dinged for backing up into the circle. It takes two guys to wrestle on the line, if you dont want too, then dont.

Wow dude, you make Desanto look calm. You need stronger meds.

I must admit I was pleasantly surprised at the end of the ADS/RBY match last weekend. After some significant emotion displayed during the match, both of the wrestlers showed good sportsmanship in the handshake after the match, even embracing one another.

I agree with you tomsc that they displayed great sportsmanship, just like Nick and Jayden.

I know we talk about iron sharpens iron in our room. The same thing can be said about wrestling great opponents on a weekly basis. You know you have to improve because your opponent is improving too. I believe that's why great wrestlers respect the great wrestler across from them.

I've heard this multiple times (i.e., if you simply "hold center" it isn't stalling) which isn't true in the first place and specifically isn't what we're talking about here. The rule requires both wrestlers to always look to improve their position toward scoring - simply "holding center" (and purposely so), if that is all you are doing continuously, does not meet this rule requirement. Secondly, are you really trying to say that one wrestler intentionally backing up to the perimeter so he can wrestle on the line with his back to the stripe (i.e., use the OB Boundry as a defensive weapon) is stalling on both wrestlers??? I'm just shaking my head at this assertion - that is simply put, absurd. Do tell what AB should do if in some kind of clench and Hidlay starts backing up - he should attempt to pull him back toward center? (that would be extremely foolish for a wrestler to do - as soon as other guy decides to go forward, you're going on your ass and opponent is going to blast right over you)... Are you suggesting that you endeavor to flee the clench backwards? Fleeing a clench is not easy without potentially exposing yourself - the other wrestler has ahold of you as much as you have ahold of them. One wrestler continually backing to the boundry and wrestling back to the boundry is stalling on one person, and one person only - the party doing it continually.

A couple of good examples of that are the way Snyder & Sadulaev related warmly during their trip to Russia a few months back--there was obvious mutual respect and appreciation. I was talking with my brother last night about the way the Iranian fans responded so positively to Burroughs and DT. Even when DT knocked off their star (Yazdani), they gave DT a strong ovation. A 3rd example would be the standing ovation Steveson got in CHA after he destroyed Cassioppi. I realize only one of those examples is wrestler-wrestler, but it's nice to see fans appreciate greatness among their opponents too. I don't think the negative things written on wrestling boards about other wrestlers is an accurate reflection of what most fans think. I guess I've wandered a bit from wrestler/wrestler mutual respect, but I appreciate good sportsmanship among the fans bases.

LMAO, I could care less what you do, and don't, "see" tool.

You've also made multiple references to a wrestler with double-unders or an over-under on their opponent as "pushing their opponent OB sumo-style". The reality is that this position is not a "sumo style" push. Beyond that, wrestler's caught in the inferior position of head-under double'unders or over-under will instinctively start to back up so the other wrestler can't get close enough to generate the leverage to throw them (ditto a wrestler will generally choose to go head-under in thos position rather than go off-center and put their head up through one of the opponent's armpits because it is easier for your opponent to "suck you in" and be thrown if you put your head to one-side, or the other.). In general, the opponent is attempting to "flee the hold" when caught in double-unders or an over-under position -- this is primarily what takes both wrestlers directly to the boundry. Yes, the wrestler that has the double-unders or over-unders is continually going to move directly at their opponent because they are attempting to get close enough to generate the leverage to throw, but a wrestler repeatedly moving straight backwards to extricate themselves from this type of position is absolutely Stalling and not a "Sumo-style Pushout" in any manner.

Lest we be accused of just dumping on ADS, one of my favorite ADS incidents was listening to Spencer Lee after the Dapper Dan classic his Sr year in HS. Evidently, ADS was a little apprehensive about going against Mejia from CA. Mejia was a good wrestler and being only the second 4X state champion was nothing to sneeze at. So Lee spent some time building up ADS confidence before the match and convinced him that he could win. We all know how it turned out. Mejia was good, but he wasn’t prepared for ADS going 120% for 6 minutes.
Where I work, we have several guys ( including me) who are ex PA wrestlers and Penn State alum. We also had some guys who were CA wrestlers. Needless to say, we gave them a hard time about how badly ADS mauled Mejia.
