I think we should have 7 in the semis! 7 out of 10 weights and that’s with no one entered at 2 of the weights. Pretty ****ing special

57kg R16: Nate Desmond vs. Seth Mendoza (SPAR WA)

P1:
Hand-fighting in the center, tying up
Nate reaches for a leg, nothing
Mendoza tries a duck, nothing
Head tapping, tying up
Passivity warning Nate
Tying up, Mendoza reaches, Nate counters, but nothing
Passivity warning Mendoza
Stoppage, restart,
Tying up, Mendoza working a 2 on 1, Nate fights him off
Nate gets to a leg, is driving forward & Mendoza counters for 4, 4-0
Nate drives Mendoza toward the edge & out of bounds, but point Mendoza? 5-0
I missed something
Back to center, tying up
1-min left
Mendoza reaches for a leg, then ties up, Nate reaches for a leg, nothing, keeps working, Mendoza trying to reach through the leg & comes through for a TD & 2 backs, 9-0
Back to center
Stoppage for something, I think hands to the face by Desmond (2nd call), which would end the match 10-0 with a penalty point for Mendoza
Desmond's corner throws a brick
Under review
Challenge lost, point Mendoza 11-0

Seth Mendoza TECH Nate Desmond 11-0 (2:53)
That was actually a 0-0 folk style match. Desmond’s aggressiveness cost him there.

:::: Your PbP is crisp - Thanks. These weekends in March & April have been dream like.
Thanks! I've been reading PBP & updates on here for years, long before I had an account. I was always grateful for those providing PBP & updates, so it's a pleasure to be able to return the service.

I just watch & type & that's what come out. I'm happy others enjoy it!

Count me in as loving your work. Much appreciated Pete!

Doesn't a 4-point move have to go from the feet to immediate danger position (beyond 90 degrees) when the opponent first hits the mat? From how I have seen it called previously, I would say this would be called two most of the time.
anyone know the answer. i'm curious too.

where do you watch?

Pretty great first day for our boys. I’m really interested to see Ryder vs Henckel. I feel like Henckel is kind of slipping through the cracks and not being talked about enough. He has been super impressive this tournament. Good measuring stick match against Ryder

I was thinking the same about Henckel. He's got two techs (1:09 & 1:42) & a pin in 1:28. That's a lot of work in under 5-min. It'll be interesting to see him against higher ranked opponents.
