This team showed tremendous fight almost overcoming some extremely questionable coaching decisions. I could see a way this team turns this into a key moment in this season, beat Indiana go into Ohio State with your hair on fire and rematch win versus Minnesota in the title game.

This sucks, and it should hurt but really unless we lost close to Ohio State, we wouldn't be in the playoffs anyway with this loss.

10-2 is still a New Years 6 bowl, and we will be returning a ton of players next year.

10-2 could also be a Outback game. Nobody knows.

If you're a Franklin fan and a believer in recruiting rankings, this game shouldn't have been close - at all. Fleck is in his third year at Minnesota and he thumped Franklin and a staff who has recruited near the top of the B1G for the past four years. Something is wrong.

Even thinking about next year is ridiculous. Injuries, eligibilities, discipline issues, new commitments / de-commitments, portals.

Next year is a BRAND NEW ballgame.

Everyone is always looking to next year. Which is why recruiting threads are so popular; it's the promise of a better tomorrow while ignoring the realities of today. But like Yoda says, be mindful of the future, but not at the expense of the present.

You and your ilk are insufferable

If you believe in recruiting rankings, Urban Meyer should have been fired after losing to Purdue. Coach K at Duke should have been fired at least 15 during the tourney

Thumped? One more play or one more call and we win!

You don't fire a coach who has won a National Championship in recent history and who has proven he can get to the CFP. Every coach will have a fluke loss now and then. Do you think Meyer loses to Kentucky in a bowl game?

Three years as HC of Minny? Two recruiting cycles? Finished #43 and #41 in annual Rivals recruiting rankings? Yeah - thumped.

Do you think Meyer loses to Kentucky in a bowl game? CJF is just now sniffing the kind of talent and depth that Meyer has enjoyed for many years. It is hard to get the first one as Franklin is finding out. Michigan on paper had more talent than PSU. You also don’t fire someone who has done as well as CJF has done with what he started with. It took Alabama 10 years after their sanctions to even be competitive except for one season. And their sanctions were nothing compared to PSU.

Totally agree - Franklin's seat is secure IMO. He needs to do better though.

I am frustrated with the outcome today as well. I was expecting at most 9 wins with all the youth though this year.

I mean, that's fair - I thought we'd lose to either Michigan, MSU, or Iowa. I did think we'd beat Minny. I also think you should be allowed to adjust expectations as the season progresses.

Losing to Kentucky doesn't mean anything. It's a scrimmage game.

It does (or should) when you're Penn State.

I agree with most of your points. I do. I just don't care at all about who wins a bowl game. I expected to lose that game. It's big in the world of Kentucky so their kids probably were up for it. For Penn State it was just a game they had to play after a wasted season.
