Ut Oh….

Willie said Jimmy Kennedy and Andrew Howe won't get the vaccine, Northwestern is firing them as a result. That absolutely decimates their coaching staff this late in the game.
Just for clarification.........did they get fired?.....or did Northwestern University set requirements for employment back in June that some employees refused to comply with? Not trying to go dumpster fire.....but it seems like a Big difference.

Yes. Especially Gabe.

He needs to realize there are experts who have been working in their professional fields longer than he has been alive.
Yes, people like Dr. Robert Malone, inventor of mRNA vaccine technology; Baylor University cardiologist Peter McCullough; Stanford epidemiologist and economist Jay Battacharya; Harvard epidemiologist Martin Kulldorff; and Oxford epidemiologist Sunetra Gupta.

We should listen to them.

Thank you, Mods! 👍

My wife was fully vaccinated. She tested positive for Covid and was sick for about a week and a half. Frustratingly sick. She thought that this should not be the case since she was fully vaccinated. I would tend to agree with her.

It bothers me that natural immunity is not discussed much by those we are trusting to guide us. It leads to cynical thinking. There is no money to be made with natural immunity.

MAN IS A LITTLE PRICK REALLY GONNA HURT YOU, GET YOUR DAMN SHOTS WEAR YOUR MASK SAVE YOUR LIFE AND OTHERS!!
You know, i'm fairly confident that the pain of a needlestick is not what's keeping people from getting vaccinated, so posts like this really don't advance the ball.

From my perspective, there are probably three factors in play here:
1. Mistrust of industry/caution re: new biotechnology. Let's just say you reap what you sow. While there are certainly plenty of cases where drugs have actually gone awry, the constant drumbeat of product liability ads, let alone the provision of a platform for some extreme antivaxx moron celebrities, has reinforced the perception that the biotech industry is about guesswork. It's not - not by a long shot. There are certainly fair reasons to be cautious about newer tech (eg, I waited for J&J rather than MRNA), but at this point, we've had tens of millions of jabs, over an extended period of time and wide varieties of subpopulations, with very minimal adverse outcomes. There really isn't much doubt about the scientific case in terms of either efficacy or safety.
2. Political ideology. Sure, I get the idea of personal autonomy. But let's not forget what administration put the juice into the systems to develop and approve these vaccines. You really aren't "sticking it to the D's" (no pun intended) by not getting vaccinated.
3. Athlete status. Given the training regimens for high performance athletes and the fact that even small increments of negative physical capacity can make a huge difference at the elite level, I "get" that some athletes may have a special concern about common side effects. But from my perspective, the risk of those side effects derailing training or competition is no more - and is probably less - than the risks of disease-related problems.

So you are saying that Brands has been fired for choking a student unconscious?? Which Brands? A tad more specifics please...........if you have any.

On the wrestling room FB group there is a thread, these to posts seems to put it most succinctly, though they disagree on specifics

Apparently after the desanto and Schriever match desanto ran into the Luther stands at starting yelling at the crowd asking who was cheering against him. He then points at cullans dad as says it was you. I ****ing hate you, I’m going to kill you, I’m going to kill you. Then Brands runs int to the stands grabs desanto by the throat and says you are gonna kill him for cheering for his son? And then pulls him out of the stands 😂

Jhe never went into the stands and he didn’t say that he was going to kill him. I was there and next to Ryan Shreiver when Desanto came off the mat and said hey man we’re on the same team and Coach Brands got a hold of him and pulled him away. I didn’t like what Desanto did but he didn’t do any of that. He did come up to the stands later and apologized to the dad and it was all squashed.

Sorry......I'll have to wait for hearsay confirmation from someone who wasn't there :)

What's wrong with you? That is not nearly as good a story. I liked it better when Terry was saving someone's dad. Geez.

It seems "the smoke" was but a faint wisp with this one.

Well, the "absolute zero tolerance" policy supposedly being put in place by Iowa as an admissions condition (after AD intentionally tried to hurt another wrestler at Nationals and got kicked out of Drexel) has not really been adhered to by Iowa. Desanto has no business going into the stands and confronting any fan, let alone confronting someone for merely cheering for their son - AD's opponent. If it was all so kosher, why precisely did it require Brands to go into the stands after him???

When you see a potential fire......you grab the extinguisher and run :)

DeSanto is like the abusive husband. It won’t happen again. Until the next time and the next time. I’m hoping I don’t see him in headlines after his Hawkeye career oh but his repetitive anger issues lead me to believe otherwise. And should he get into coaching at any capacity watch out.He will blow the doors off somewhere sometime and uncle Terry won’t be there to help
