Weekly Review of Rankings for 1/25/16

below are the rankings from various publications, web sites, and ranking services. I'll update the review as additional rankings are posted during the week, and when all are posted will generate an average ranking.

Not a lot of changes in the rankings. Nolf moved into 1st place in every ranking after his defeat of IMar. Conaway didn't move at all after losing to Richards. Rasheed only moved a bit in a few rankings after losing to Rodriguez. And Cutch moved up in some rankings, and moved down in some rankings, after injury defaulting to Koepke. There were only 2 exceptions to this. Amateur Wrestling News dropped Cutch from 13th to out of the top 20, while WrestleStat dropped Gulibon from 6th to 31st. (In Gulibon's case, it's hard to figure out what happened. 2 weeks ago WS had him at 28th. Last week they had him at 6th, while this week they had him at 31st.)

Not a lot of movement this week. Gulibon moved down some, and Cutch moved down 1 place. As was the case last week, If the 2 computer generated rankings (WrestleStats and Dual Impact Index) are excluded from the Average, the Average would be the same for all but 2 PSUers (Gulibon is 19th in the full Average, and would be 15th if you exclude the computer generated rankings; Cutch is 11th in the full Average, and would be 10th if you exclude the computer generated rankings). Also, none of the guys that have wrestled at 285 for PSU this season are in more than half of the rankings, which is my requirement for including a PSUer in the Average.

Tom, didn't Cody transfer someplace? I thought I saw him take on the NCAA about eligibility, or something like that...

He transferred to University of Pittsburgh - Johnstown at the beginning of the recent semester. He/they thought he'd be able to wrestle right away, but the NCAA has ruled that because he wore a PSU singlet at the Nittany Lion Open, he is ineligible to wrestle for UPJ until next season. He's appealing the decision.

Gulibon receives a forfeit 2 weeks ago and rises 22 spots.
Then he wins by decision last week and drops 25 spots.

A lot has been posted this year about JG's inconsistency, but it seems the computers are even more confused with him than the fans.

Zep, Gulibon's rating has been fairly consistent in the Dual Impact Index.

Any ranking service that lists Zain as #2 has no credibility to me.
