They used to have a conniption when McIntosh would beat Burbak by a takedown or 2. McIntosh was always stalling and I would ask if they understood in 7 minutes of wrestling McIntosh was the only wrestler to take a committed shot through the hands to the legs and secure any offensive points.
Which of course would lead to get off my lawn rages.
The finals in NYC, Iowa had 3 kids in the finals and in 21 minutes of wrestling the collective Hawk effort was 0 offensive points scored. Yet, somehow Iowa lost all 3 matches because the other 3 kids (Nico, Garrett and Zain) despite scoring all of the offensive points all stalled.
The only thing Hawk fans know about wrestling is "heeeessss staaaalllllinnnnn", and everybody else always stalls. The sing it with a hearty rhythm and are unrelenting in their insistence that the other guy is always stalling. If the other guy would simply stop trying so hard and let their guy score they could win.
Yeah, Starocci has effectively stalled his way to 4 championships. If Iowa kids wrestled to score instead of pushing and pushing to score a stall call they might occasionally secure a championship.
You would think after watching Spencer maul people scoring points on his way to 3 titles someone associated with the program may have noticed scoring offensive points is important.
