Iowa news for 2024-25

We probably shouldn't get ahead of ourselves, first we have to squeak past Nebraska..
When do we get our first taste of the sky is falling?? That's my favorite part of the year.

Somehow something I said got me nuked over there, I guess they're getting a little bit sensitive. I thought I was fairly polite but still pretty clear how Penn State is so much better? I don't know did I make a mistake somewhere?

Previous things that I said over there didn't get me banned, one was out Penn State was more like the SEC in football than Salem Alabama. Meaning they've won more titles in the same period than the SEC has in football. That didn't go over well but only one or two people made a nice comment about it.

Now I have lived in Iowa for a few years and I had my first job out of college and I like the area so I like to toss it out there from time to time however they seem to get mad when you disagree with them on anything. It seems they're still going back to that slush fu d thing and Kale or Carl or whatever.

They still seem quite sensitive . I belong to the BEG wrestling group on Facebook and one of their moderators there who is an Iowa fan said he works there and he doesn't think he did anything out of line, but he said they are getting a little sensitive lately.
The legitimate possibility PSU smokes them 40-0 in a head-to-head battle I believe is much more unsettling for them then knowing another 100 point beat down at nationals is highly likely.

Remember, they have been repeatedly reassured by their chief recruiter and benefactor the field is now level. A level playing field with the superior coaching skills of the Brands boys and superior wrestling knowledge of the Iowa Hawkeye wrestling fans (ie. heeeessss staaaalllllinnnnn) they should be winning not wishing upon a star to maybe win 1 or 2 of 10 in a match and come closer than a 100 points in the championship tournament. It just seems unfair and their feelings are probably a bit brittle.

Good Lord, I love Iowa Hawkeye wrestling fans. Their bitterness and anger over PSU's wrestling success makes the shear joy of watching PSU be as great as they are even sweeter.

Totally agree, It's like this Gable was an iconic wrestler and a great coach. Sanderson was an iconic wrestler and a great coach. In a better area for wrestling than any other major school ever. With a supportive administration and fan base. Gable now might have taken the job at PSU if him and Sanderson were switched in age.

They can't grasp that times have changed and things have changed in training and coaching and Sanderson is more like Gable than any other coach since Dan. In a better geographic area. Using anything to get better instead of just grinding harder.

What does their wrestling knowledge do to help the guys on the mat? I keep thinki9ng of Buddy Garritty whenever I see one of them mention that stuff. I also think it's hilarious how they think Starocci stalls, every time I see him it seem like he's getting bonus points.

I think you are overanalyzing this. No need to spend so much time figuring out what's going on.

One of their moderators in WildTurk. Enough said.
Over analyzing things like this is one of my strengths, I'm not really over analyzing things. It's more by design.

They used to have a conniption when McIntosh would beat Burbak by a takedown or 2. McIntosh was always stalling and I would ask if they understood in 7 minutes of wrestling McIntosh was the only wrestler to take a committed shot through the hands to the legs and secure any offensive points.
Which of course would lead to get off my lawn rages.

The finals in NYC, Iowa had 3 kids in the finals and in 21 minutes of wrestling the collective Hawk effort was 0 offensive points scored. Yet, somehow Iowa lost all 3 matches because the other 3 kids (Nico, Garrett and Zain) despite scoring all of the offensive points all stalled.

The only thing Hawk fans know about wrestling is "heeeessss staaaalllllinnnnn", and everybody else always stalls. The sing it with a hearty rhythm and are unrelenting in their insistence that the other guy is always stalling. If the other guy would simply stop trying so hard and let their guy score they could win.
Yeah, Starocci has effectively stalled his way to 4 championships. If Iowa kids wrestled to score instead of pushing and pushing to score a stall call they might occasionally secure a championship.
You would think after watching Spencer maul people scoring points on his way to 3 titles someone associated with the program may have noticed scoring offensive points is important.

If you think they are sensitive now wait till February 1st...

They were even yelling stalling as Max had Warner counting the Carver ceiling lights.

OK - here's the game plan for 2/1/2025. Each of us comes up with a new, unique user name and password for GIA or whatever they call themselves and signs in under those names. Then we start a thread here where we post the names and passwords we used to sign into GIA. After that, our local trolling experts (johnstownsteel, etc.) just keep borrowing new names from the list and post obnoxious comments designed to enrage the Hawk fans. Everytime they get banned, they just come back and borrow a new name. That should keep Turk plenty busy for a while. 😈

Gonna have to get creative to find new handles that @johnstownsteel isn't already squatting on.

Yeah, I got banned there awhile back for not much more than a little lighthearted ball busting. I mean, that’s what guys do, right? What a bunch of sensitive Sallies!

I guess they just don’t like tough posting…and the funny thing was, it wasn’t even that tough. It was more snap down, go behind and ankle pick type of stuff. Now I wish I had unleashed my bow and arrow level insults. Damn!

Easy workaround. There are websites that allow you to create a temporary email address. You should be able to create one and then log onto GIA right away while the email address is still valid. Turk needs a little challenge in his new position as a mod.
