What are you binge watching?

Also recently watched Clickbait. It’s ok. You will never guess the ending, but only because it has practically nothing to do with anything that came before it.
Agree. It didn't help that ... hmmm, no way to comment without a spoiler. I enjoyed it for the most part but didn't appreciate the resolution.

Yeah it was awesome. The only other minor complaint was their version of 1994 Joanie. I understand what they were going for, but I think they missed the mark

Yeah - she was basically a vehicle to demonstrate the power of the internet and how it can bring all kinds of people together. And the heartbreak of misguided youth. In the end, people got what they wanted in a way - Donna was successful but at a cost, Joe realized there is more to life than success, and Cameron found her calling as a world builder. I would have liked for Gordon to survive but his death was then impetus to getting everyone on the right track in a way. Still, can’t believe he split with Donna - I think he realized that at the end.

Also in the 2nd or 3rd episode they start a side story about how the detective is a devout Muslim. And then they just ditch the story and it had absolutely nothing to do with anything else in the show.

Not the best show I’ve ever seen

I think that was Haley and that character was good. Joanie was the other sister and they were trying to capture 1994 by having her wear a Shonen Knife t-shirt. I can say for sure that someone wearing a Shonen Knife t-shirt would have been way, way weirder than her. They either didn’t remember the era very well, or tried too hard. A Nine Inch Nails T-shirt would have been about right.

Ah right. Agree - and will add that the soundtrack overall was awesome. Maybe in Cali the kids were ahead of the curve a bit?

I think the funniest scene in the whole show is when Joe gets so intense about retrieving her dad’s sweater that he makes her the driver of a getaway car while he steals a trash bag from the dock at Goodwill. And then it’s not even the right trash bag.

Since watching the Netflix 911 documentary “Turning Point” I am now watching Rescue Me…..been ten years since last episode wow it isn’t very politically correct. My my things have changed and Not for the better!

Tonight on FX (one of the premier homes for prestige dramas IMO) 'Y: The Last Man' premieres and it looks pretty good; based off the best selling/critically acclaimed comic book from Brian K. Vaughn, it's about a mysterious 'incident' that wipes out every male on Earth - except one - and what happens after. Looks really good. Oh, and @fairgambit - Diane Lane is in this ;).

For music fans who 'grew up' in the 90s, I highly recommend The Ringer Network's '60 Songs That Explain the 90's' podcast for when you're on the treadmill or cutting grass or stuck in traffic. Not all the songs have been released yet, but each episode is about an hour long deep dive into the history, relevance, performance, and meaning of several songs - some bigger and more well known than others - that shaped music culture and discourse during a really remarkable period in music. Host Rob Harvilla is very knowledgeable and respectful of each artist and layers each podcast, from beginning to end, with artist interview snippets and behind the scenes stuff that will really satisfy fans of music from this era. I just listened to the Tori Amos 'Cornflake Girl' episode and it begins with Rob telling the story and sharing some of Tori's performance of 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' in early April 1994 just days after Kurt Cobain's death. It's haunting and fascinating, and by the end, the true meaning of 'Cornflake Girl' is revealed and it's hard to hear the song again without the imagery that goes with the horrible meaning.

Can't wait to get to some of the other songs featured - Wonderwall, Mayonaise, Crash Into You, Hyperballad....

If you get the time the PBS 4 episode series on Ali is brilliant. Ken Burns is a national treasure.
Also its only the first episode but the rebooted Wonder Years has a lot of potential. I liked it.

Rescue Me is one of my favorite shows of all time. I remember being very disappointed when it wrapped.

I recently finished Loudermilk on Amazon Prime. It's very funny and highly recommend it.

Now I'm watching Doom Patrol on HBO Max. It's a bit strange but also funny.

Watched Normal People this week.

Daisy Edgar Jones is certainly nice to look at.
And the uhh, sex scenes don't leave much to the imagination.

That being said, there is something very honest and sweet about it.
Maybe I related because I was sort of a bookish/artist Jock as well.

Doom Patrol is great. Best thing I've seen Brandon Frasier in since the first Mummy.
I think the second season drops soon.

Doom Patrol S3 just came out this week; trying to watch when I can (finished the first episode; I think the first three are available now - the rest will follow weekly). It really finds it's footing at the end of S1 and especially in S2. So far, S3 is just as bonkers and fun. Can I drop a Rita Farr (April Bowlby) appreciation gif?

Also, saw the first official trailer for Netflix's 'Sandman' adaptation - this could be tremendous (cast is excellent - Charles Dance, Gwendolyn Christie, Stephen Fry) and I like what I see here:

Goliath Season 4 is now on Amazon Prime Video.

1st two seasons were pretty great IMO, last two tried to get too creapy.

I started it but found the 'big bad' (complete with disfigurement) to be too contrived, though I loved BBT.

I'll second the motion for Normal People. One of the best written things I've seen in the last couple years.

Now binging "Call My Agent" which is a French farce about movie agents and the stars they represent (Netflix). Originally done for French TV, it's got English subtitles. Each week a famous French actor (and some directors and writers as well) joins the cast appearing as themselves, usually with some embarrassing situation that has to be overcome.

Takes a couple of episodes to get the characters and situations set up and then it is laugh out loud funny. French humor can be witty and subtle and totally outrageous at the same time. But they also build some of the regular characters into fairly complex and likeable people, so the continuing plot arcs have weight to them.

Also set in Paris, with lots of beautiful people, so just a feast for the eyes.

Just a great example of wonderful TV we never would have seen before streaming because it never would have had enough audience to air on cable.

Yeah, the missus and I are catching Goliath Season 4. This seems to me to be an improvement on the last two seasons.

We’re also playing out the string on Billions. We can’t wait to move on from it.
I quit Billions at the beginning of season 2.

Right? I stopped 'hate watching' shows a while ago, but there was a time where I felt I was too invested not to see a show all the way through. Billions got the axe before the end of S1 and zero regrets.

I am watching Goliath as well. In season one, I was in the middle of a civil suit and it was actually very helpful in understanding the company/insurance dynamic. After watching season one, I changed our strategy a little, to drive a wedge between the insurance company and the company itself. From what I can tell, the insurance company threatened to pull coverage due to the gross mismanagement of the situation. When they settled, I got two different checks: one from the insurance company and one from the company. I assume that there was a gib fight between the two and the insurance company finally said "this is what we will cover and no more...". So I have a lot of love for the show.

the downside is I can't stop looking at BBT's toupe. And with his smoking and drinking, it would be hard to be in a room with him for more than a few minutes. I have a hard time believing anyone not having to do so, would hire him. I do like all of the female actors. They are all really good. In one episode (spoiler alert) the character "Patty" (who is sassy and hilarious) walks into a room with a screaming kid and says "did I walk into the middle of a murder?" My wife and I LOLed. I also have to confess that I have a thing for the character Brittany Gold played by Tanya Ramonde

Season 4 was easily the best of the 4. Still some oddball scenes, usually in the cold open, but it didn't fall apart at the end like the first 2 seasons and didn't have a strange story line like season 3.

Catching up on the last episodes of Evil. The last one with the dolls was really creepy.
Going to DVR the new Ghosts series. It looks pretty funny. Sort of The Frighteners meets Pushing Daisies.
And if you haven't seen Pushing Daisies. Give it a shot.

That is what I am finding out. really enjoy it. I liked seasons 1 & 2.....season 3 and the stealing of the water was the run that ran me afoul.

Goliath Season 3 was so weird, with so many loose threads left at the end. Yeah, Season 4 is more coherent and more enjoyable. Jena Malone really shines in the end, excellent.

PD was terrific. Cancelled way too early.
