What ever became of the old poster, Howard Stern?

I know his name. it is public information. just trying to gauge if there us a specific reason we aren't using it.

I also know he had a connection to the Philly DAs office, or a couple connected to this case.

There is little doubt the timing of his "tip" coincided with Corbett securing the Governor election, and started the ball rolling on crushing Spanier and PSU . . .

If Corbett had proceeded earlier it would have hurt his election chances. Anyone with a shred of intelligence could see that. I do wonder if Sandusky could have been indicted without the Lasch incident.

BWI "last seen on a milk carton" poster day?
New avatar????? Brings back memories of way too many Trigger Burgers consumed at the Roy Rogers on College Ave.....

I was. He was also in another Email group with me and a few others that used to post on here, sadly Carol was one.
He was CC with the CC being his initials.
The email group I was in with him blew up after he had an epic meltdown after the '99 Minny game.
He just flat out lost his mind. He never really recovered and then the whole Devlin/Clark QB situation pushed him over the edge.
In the end he was pretty much a raving lunatic.

I was on that newsletter chain also. While MCE knew football better than the average fan, I never thought he knew as much as he thought he knew. His ego fooled him into thinking he was on par with JVP. I did not know him, but having chatted with him a couple of times at NLC events, that was fine with me. No doubt fine for him, too.
He followed recruiting very closely, including Big 33 players. He made sure he got to know players and families, and sometimes that slanted his views (Tim Johnson at MLB, Pat Devlin at QB).
The '99 Minny meltdown reference is pretty much spot on. His newsletter leading up to that game included his advice to book trips to New Orleans for the National Championship game vs. FSU.

No one is a bigger fan of Joe - for over 40 years - and what he did for Penn State football, Penn State University, and the state of Pennsylvania than me. What Joe did and how he did it was incredible and we all need to recognize and appreciate his accomplishments. Be ut if Howard Stern felt Joe stayed on too long and the program needed to modernized, in all fairness, he was right. I believe he also began criticizing Penn State's recruiting efforts beginning in 2000. Again, and let's be honest, there was a pretty significant decline after the 1999 season and the wins/losses support his opinion..
And I thought I was the biggest Joe Paterno fan alive. Crud.

I think he went as far as already making the reservation.

LOL, I could get an entire "club salad" on top of my Roy's cheeseburger at the '"Fixins' Bar". Ahhhh, memories.

Funny side story. So this past season, when I go up to the games I pass a Roy Rogers. So going up for the Temple game I was really hungry and pulled in and got a Roast Beef and fries to go (at $9.11, Its gone up somewhat since the days on College Ave). Had a great time at the game and we won. Following week was the disaster at Michigan. So for the next game (Minny) I was hungry again and stopped. We won. Ok being the semi "game day superstitious" fan I saw a pattern. So for the rest of the season even the away games
I stopped on at a Roys on Friday night and got a Roast Beef and Fries to go. Awesome season.
Oddly enough I didn't do it over Christmas or before the Rose Bowl.
I let everyone down. I am truly sorry.:(

LOL, Respond if anyone here was on MCE's PSU football mailing/newsletter. That is real old school stuff!

I used to get it. The guy is a big time fan too. Good guy, wish he would still post but things got ugly during the "great divide" on what PSU Football should be doing, and you couldn't give a counter point without taking the wrath from the other side.

Some got more frustrated with the down years and lack of real chance to win a national championship. They wanted change. It is what it is. There are so many really good posters that just dropped off. Not just MCE, Pelly, Howard Stern and MarshCreek. It would be great to see some of them return.

No it wouldn't.

I laughed at Marsh when he weighed in (as was his wont on everything given his ego) on Strath Haven football and where it drew its players from. I only lived 21 years in the area from birth and took the bus in elementary school through the neighborhood he was so confidently opining on. He was so off base, but spoke with such authority that people lapped it up. As the guys at South Park would say, he loved the smell of his own farts.

Perhaps the funniest exchanges were between Marsh, one of his lackeys with "Rumson" in his name, and Fish. Fish needled the hell out of the 2 windbags and they couldn't handle it - you could imagine them shaking with rage reading Fish's posts.

Good days.

speaking of missing posters, trying to come up with the screen name of a guy I haven't seen around lately....

originally from Sunbury/Northumberland area; retired in Charlotte, NC area, but then started a computer repair business; gruff old guy who had done some coaching and knew sports fairly well and also outspoken on politics; if I recall, his actual name was similar to or the same as the 39th President, Jimmy Carter....

**can somebody recall his screen name or give a current status?

also miss a great poster named Shrink, who passed away a few years ago; great football analysis and good on other topics, too

Are you talking about a poster named NYNY?

I also remember UTB and UTB'sGhost. Cincy guy IIRC.

Not really the way it was as far as I remember. What I remember is that there was a chat room on TOS where certain people would go on and talk, mostly about PSU football. McQuery used to visit the chat room and it is the result of a conversation in that room that lead someone to report it to the OAG. I guess it was Howard Stern.

Yeah, several years after the fact.

NYNY correctly predicted the great career of Evan Royster...along with a few others, but as I recall NYNY made Royster his avatar, like the day after he committed. A good call.
