What ever became of the old poster, Howard Stern?

I don't disagree with you. But posters like Stern wouldn't allow any debate or discussion. In mocking people by saying "all is well" they were in essence saying "all is not well." And that was as ridiculous an assertion as saying all is well, which no one ever said BTW.

Yes, good thing there are not people like that on this board anymore....

I laughed at Marsh when he weighed in (as was his wont on everything given his ego) on Strath Haven football and where it drew its players from. I only lived 21 years in the area from birth and took the bus in elementary school through the neighborhood he was so confidently opining on. He was so off base, but spoke with such authority that people lapped it up. As the guys at South Park would say, he loved the smell of his own farts.

Perhaps the funniest exchanges were between Marsh, one of his lackeys with "Rumson" in his name, and Fish. Fish needled the hell out of the 2 windbags and they couldn't handle it - you could imagine them shaking with rage reading Fish's posts.

Good days.
Freddy Rumsen (Mad Men reference)?

Agree....loved Marsh...originally Marshcreek, then later added the "eagle".

Also agree he became unhinged in the Devlin Clark decision. Clark was B1G offensive player of the year. I get you can disagree, but in hindsight, it is hard to argue the point.

Finally, we forget that Joe stuck to his guns in the early 2000's when college ball really changed. It changed with readily available cable TV, ESPN, internet and emails (later to texts). College teams became football factories and nationwide brands. They were no longer regional. Kids from FL started to go to Ohio State and keeping in-state kids became harder. Joe continued to recruit regionally, for the most part, and put education over football. Today, with the NCAA cracking down with graduation rates, this is more mainstream. But at the time, PSU was far and away the best college team to play for when you considered quality of football combined with education.

People forget that.

And PSU is still near the top for combined football and educational opportunities.

Yep...in fact, PSU won an award for having the best graduation rates for all Bowl Teams in 2011, just months after the "culture" was shaken by the JS revelations. I think it was called the Allstate Academic Bowl Championship. The MSM didn't give it much play (LOL).

Those melt down years were directly proportional to my desire to continue on this board. It changed from being informative to a little looney tunes....

Agreed...the new "ignore" feature is really great. While the board has reflected society and become more divisive, technology has provided more tools to deal with it. Stick around and use "ignore".
