for me

Amelia Island (northern Florida). several very unique holes that challenge all your skills. even blues are not that long, but course is a bich.

Blackwolf Run River Course in Kohler Wisconsin

Holes five through thirteen are just mind-blowingly beautiful.

Choice number two would be TPC at Sawgrass.

Cypress Point. It was very windy that day. The sea was angry, like an old man
taking bad soup back at a deli. Seriously...it was very windy. I went for the green
on 16. Had to aim out over the ocean as the wind was blowing strong in off of it. My
ball fell short onto the rocks...and bounced up onto the green. I shot 91. How I got
to play there was an employee of ours had quit and went to work at Cypress as a
caddy. He came in one day and I joking said to him....when you getting me on Cypress?
The next week he comes back in and told me that the guy in charge of Caddies said that
I could bring a foursome to play the following Monday, at 7am sharp. It would be free but
we would have to pay the caddies. Two bags per caddy. The course was empty. That of
course was a once in a life time event.

Nobody likes a tattle tale Danny... except of course me

I hope you realize the magnitude of your good fortune. Cypress is right up there with Augusta for exclusivity. I've played every course in the Peninsula except Cypress. Played Pebble twice and birdied #7 both times.

Two actually- most memorable was Golden Horseshoe in Williamsburg VA. A pristine layout - you feel great even after shooting in the 90's. Second is the King & Prince Course in St Simons SC. Semi private and outstanding layout with 4 holes extending out over a marshy area. Friendliest staff I ever encountered.

Canterbury in Cleveland. I've played on close to

30 courses that the pros have played on and list Twin Eagles, Firestone and Laurel Valley right up there also.

Pebble!

Being my first time on the Monterrey Penisula, it was hard to pay attention to playing golf. Oakmont is the hardest course, followed by TPC Sawgrass and Seaside, that i have played. But Pebble's vista are simply amazing.

The Honors Course

in Ootewah, Tennessee. Other top 8: Pinehurst 2, Atlanta Athletic Club, Atlanta Country Club, Golf Club of Tennessee, TPC Southwind, Colonial Country Club, Spring Creek Ranch. I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to play these excellent courses.

Oakland Hills with a good buddy. My score was about a stroke per hole over my average.
Beautiful course though.
Second is Bay Harbor in Petoskey MI in a driving rain crazy winds. This course has some amazing holes along Lake Michigan and is easy to get on.

Dum Dum - Sharon, PA. - Unique, because it's free.*

Willie Nelson's Pedernales Cut-N-Putt

Name another course in America with these rules:

Pedernales Golf Club
Local Rules and Etiquette
When another player is shooting, no player should talk, whistle, hum, clink coins, or pass gas.Excessive displays of affection are discouraged. Violators must replace divots and will be penalized five strokes.Replace divots, smooth footprints in bunkers, brush backtrail with
branches, park car under brush, and have the office tell your spouse
you're in a conference. No more than twelve in your foursome.Gambling is forbidden, of course, unless you're stuck or you need a legal deduction for charitable or educational expenses. No bikinis, mini-skirts, skimpy see-through, or sexually exploitative attire allowed. Except on women.Yes, these rules are really posted in the pro shop and on the course Internet site.

Lahinch or The Country Club Championship Course

Both incredibly challenging and steeped in history.

I've been very fortunate to play many......for a pure golf

experience....Pine Valley and Whistling Straits.

For pure beauty....The Challenge at Menele Bay....Island of Lanaii, Hawaii.

For sentimental value....Galen Hall GC...Wernersville, PA

Spent 12 years in past life within the golf business and have had the opportunity to play on some amazing courses.

Of course it's a subjective question and everyone has their different preferences but for me... I'd list the " best" I've ever played as ( not in this order)..

Augusta National
Peachtree
Cypress
All 5 Bandon courses
Yemen's Hall
Fishers Island
St. Andrews
Kings barns
Prestwick
Chambers Bay
Royal Troons
Winged foot

BUT... The BEST is still... Pine Valley...not even close IMO...

Playing Trumps new Ferry golf course this Wednesday...

Augusta a number of years ago (13 holes before the lightning) via a Lucent Technologies member.

Other memorables: Pebble, Kapalua (Bay), Innisbrook (Copperhead), The Greenbrier (White), The Broadmoore (East). And close to home, Huntsville in northeastern PA.

Cairo / Giza Egypt. The Course near the base of the Great Pyramids.

Not a great course, but the experience was incredible. Some of the caddies had worked there for 40-50 years. Having the pyramids in the background, chatting with the caddies, and drinking O'Doul's made for a very special experience.

Menah House Golf

The Ocean Course Kiawah. Favorite was Lost Canyons near LA.

And third was Princeville, in Kauai which I now understand is private. Kapalua was great as was in Bermuda.

Re: Royal Dornoch - Donald Ross explained before your eyes *

Ditto, Amazing experience! Ballybunion and Pine Valley make up 1,2,3 for me.

Re: Nobody likes a tattle tale Danny... except of course me

Yeah, I know how lucky I was. My wife and I ran into to that guy on the Monterey wharf about a year
ago. He was a barker for one of the restaurants there. I thanked him again for helping me
to get on Cypress. That round was played way back in the 80s. When Cypress was one of three
courses that was the Crosby and now the AT&T. It just goes to prove.....it never hurts to ask. I was
just kidding when I jokingly asked when he could get me on Cypress. Thank God he took me seriously.

Indian Run out Belltown way?

Kidding of course, though that is where I played for the first time.

I've never played any well known courses, but Stonelick Hills Golf Club east of Cincinnati is an absolutely beautiful course. I've played there w/ guys who play on TPC courses and they've said it stacks up. $75/round I suppose it should.

First time at Pebble in the mid seventies. Been there several times since but nothing matches the buzz going up and down my spine that first time for all 18 holes. Just a kid a few years after college and it seemed impossible that my buddies and I were actually there, walking on the hallowed turf. Teed off at 7:40 AM and the marine layer didn't lift until we hit the green at #7. It all added to the eerie impact on all senses. Played it again that afternoon in brilliant sunshine for the $10.00 cost of a cart!
