What is your favorite piece of Penn State memorabilia that you own?

Picture of me as a 7 year old on the Lion statue along with pictures of me and my bro playing catch on the field after we snuck in.

Mr. and Mrs. Paterno's autograph on my wedding announcement, we invited them and I wrote a letter asking for their autograph. It was displayed on the table where you picked up your seat assignment so everyone saw it. I was married on the date of the Purdue game in 1999 and PSU was ranked #1 at the time. "PSU #1" was on the message board at the reception site.

I have a ton of stuff from nearly 40 years as a season ticket holder and it would be hard to pick a favorite as many (like programs and tickets) have memories attached to them. Nearly all of it is packed away in boxes. I suppose if I had to choose, it would be the Nittany Lion Statuette that my wife bought me back in the 70's.

Well, I have about 40 years of PSU’s annual media guides.

My brother has our deceased Dad’s class ring.

I have a mini football autographed by Cappy, a football autographed by LaVar Arrington and a football autographed by James Franklin. All are cool. All were won at my buddy's annual charity auction. So cool stuff, but I wouldn't buy any of it from a dealer.

One of these:

Program from the 1983 Sugar Bowl
Photo of Franco Harris and me at a tailgate
Beaver stadium model that is in my office
A "This is Nittany Lion Country" cloth wall banner thing that I had in my dorm room and is now in my basement home gym
A blue and white license plate circa 1981 that I removed from a campus police car one drunken Saturday night
My senior year season football ticket with all holes punched

Picture of my son with Joe following a spring football practice. Look to the left. Joe gave him a dutch rub just before this picture and asked "who's this knuckle head?". Then barked at me to take their picture.
Etched in my mind are Daryl Clark and Sean Lee accepting posters my son made for them and him hanging out with them and Jared Odrick in the weight room.
At 19 years old I still am not sure my son understands just how fortunate he was growing up and being able to hang out at the Lasch Building.

Do you remember those traffic signs with the Nittany Lion and a football with arrow that were on 322. I had at least 5-6 of them in our house up there. God only knows what happened to them.

I have a Joe Paterno autografted football which I received as a gift from a friend of Joe”s named Lou Gatto

I have one of the pylons from the 1995 Rose Bowl (Penn State vs Oregon)

Bought it at an auction with a COA a few years back.

A client made me a mosaic of the nitanny lion profile. He hand cut each of the tiles, he was a millright (sp). G-d rest his soul. Of course done in Blue and White tiles. I'll try to post a pic

Well...
too many to list, but some of the more unique items

my favorite acquisition story is the 8ft long piece of metal seating(bench) from the north endzone expansion

most unique a 1940's engraved walking cane that has a pull out map of the campus in the cane itself

I started collecting media guides around 1975. Stopped ordering them when they removed Joe's stats. I assume that situation has been corrected.

I think my first one was about 1967 or so. Have a lot of various football stuff 70’s - 80’s, Smith & Street, Catch Lion Fever, etc.

Gonna have to start cleaning out the basement / downsizing one of these days. Hate to do it.

Years ago (approx 1980) our office’s receptionist / telephone operator was into needlepoint. I often complimented her on her various efforts and she said she’d be happy to do one for me.

Next trip to HV, found an approx 12” x 16” complete pattern and kit for the Nittany Lion in his classic shrine pose with PENN STATE in small block letters in the upper right-hand corner. Obviously blue and white yarn and, when completed, had it put in a blue frame.

In my tv room, still looks pretty cool after almost 40 years! The only way it could be cooler is to have today’s version which, if they still make them, would have WE ARE PENN STATE!

That sounds neat havent seen that.

have --maybe now not the most politically correct--- 4 ft by 6 inch banner "When Better Women are Made Penn State Men will Make Them" Always a conversation starter/ ender when company visits. Also its the phrase in Animal House float during the parade but insert Faber

Also have the classic light switch plate cover going down into the basement. Also probably 40 years old, probably spent all of $3.99 or $4.99, but I ALWAYS smile when I use it.

About 5 1/2” high, about 3 1/2” wide. White cover, blue print.

Above the light switch: Penn State turns me on

Below the light switch: Pitt turns me off

With the benefit of hindsight, I should have bought about 20 of them for the entire house. Was disappointed at the time because I only saw a single light switch product, never a double or triple switch option.

The only custom light switch I have is Blackledge against Nebraska 1982

My VHS tape of the 48-14 game....

But the most practical is my 2 PSU watches, that I wear almost continuously, even though I have a number of other watches. People look at the jewelry you wear, and it leaves no doubt where I stand....

1989 Holiday Bowl cap autographed by Blair Thomas
1982 autographed foam football by Lance Hamilton
a 1923 brass football pin. Not sure who or how it was used.
many, many football media guides and memories.

I have a lot of memorabilia but my favorite is a quilt that my mother made out of my childhood PSU t-shirt. Some of the shirts are from the 1983 national championship game.

My wife got me an authentic Riddell PSU helmet for Christmas right after we got married in the mid 90’s. Not long after, I took it to a Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce luncheon where JVP was speaking. I walked up to the dais with a sharpie and the helmet while he was eating lunch and asked him to sign it. He said “Where did you get this?” I said my wife bought it for me. He said “Your wife is crazy! Do you know how much these things cost?” He signed it, we laughed and talked about a mutual friend for 5 minutes or so. He was great. I still cherish that helmet. It sits in a cube in my man cave with some other PSU and Pirates memorabilia.
