When was the last time a so dominant-appearing #1-ranked team like Alabama lost?

Ohio State in '98 to Michigan State?
Ohio State in '69 to Michigan?

1969 Penn State was better than the 1969 Ohio State team. And in 1968 they may have been better also. In 1968 Penn State was ranked #2; #1 and overrated Purdue was beaten by Rex Kern and a sophomore laden Ohio State team; and that week Penn State beat UCLA 21-6 in LA. Ohio State became the media darlings and leapfrogged us. No one was beating that Penn State defense in a big game in either of those years in my opinion.

Not sure there’s been a so dominating looking team as Bama this year.
I know, and it almost has you thinking why even play the game. The 1994 Penn State team looked like that, though they did have two close ones on the road at Michigan and Illinois. Aside from that, they were just throttling everyone. The games were pretty much over early in the second quarter against the likes of USC and Ohio State

1996 #1 ranked Nebraska getting SHUT-OUT by Arizona State in the first few weeks of the season was an absolute shocker. Not just the loss, but the nature of the loss (a domination).

The Huskers looked like a machine. 26 straight wins, and 37 of 38 (the 1 being a last second field-goal loss in the Orange Bowl to FSU).

And then like a lightning bolt out of the blue, a then-unknown ASU led by Jake Plummer and Pat Tillman shut them down and beat them up.

When they had to actually play someone with a pulse. We will see that in two weeks when they are forced to play at LSU.
I'm betting Alabama curb stomps LSU. LSU will likely keep it close in the 1st half until Alabama adjusts to actually having some competition on the field then they blow them away in the 2nd half.

I’m thinking the opposite....I think Bama comes out of the gate and crushes them early while Tua is in the game.

Bama appears to be on a different level this season, even for them. I actually will be shocked if they do not win each of their remaining games by more than 14 pts.

LSU will beat them. Bama is good, but at times their D is un-Bama like.

Those USC teams of the late 00's were on another level compare to the talent of the PAC10 back then. It showed also because USC dominated every bowl game they were in. Those teams had no business losing to Oregon State and Stanford (back when those programs were bottom feeders of that conference, OSU still is)

Their D doesn’t have to be all that great against LSU’s offense. If Florida and Miss State held them to 19 points, they might score 10 against Bama.

2017 Alabama vs Auburn
2016 Alabama vs Clemson
2015 Alabama vs Ole Miss

According to this board, PSU should be #1 every year all year long, and never lose. They should be the most dominant team year in and year out! Losses are forbidden...

oh yeah, they should dominate Alabama every year on the playoffs...
