Who was the proprietor of JOEMUSTGO.COM?????

Yep, JVP really sucked. The last 7 years his record was 66-20 with victories in the Capital One, Orange, Outback and Alamo Bowl. He was senile and could not coach, his idiot son was worthless and all the S/C concepts were antiquated. None of his assistants were worth anything to anyone else. They didn't recruit anyone of note....not Poz, Tamba Hali, Bowman, Hodges,Lee, Mauti, Zordich, Crawford, Gilliam,Maybin, Norwood, Stupar, Wake....just to name a few....most of whom are still in the NFL. Amazing how well the damn program did considering it was a completely rudderless ship.

LOL .... the post you responded to did NOT say that "JVP really sucked." It said that he "hurt the program."

And, yes, he did. The program under-achieved consistently from 1997 to 2011. 2005 - yes, even that season - we underachieved. No excuse for losing to Michigan, but JoePa refused to open up the offense for the game's first 45 minutes.

None of that speaks, of course, to Joe having a role in getting the program put on probation. That wasn't exactly good either.

Are you ill? Can't we get a Jay comment from one of the biggest humps to post on this site? The program underachieved when measured against the unprecedented success that JVP lead it to previously. Perhaps that sort of success is unsustainable for decades at a time. Programs with storied history such as Texas, Alabama and Nebraska have all fallen on hard times during the past 20 years. They were able to experience periods of "under-achieving" without the help of Joe Paterno.

Fact: We have a better aggregate record over the last 6 years (when we had to deal with the limitations of the probation that Joe helped cause!) then we did over the 1997-2011 time period that I mentioned.

Oddly enough you don't think JF is doing a good job though....sometimes you look so silly talking out of both sides of your mouth while defending Jenny Harbaugh.

Huh? I can think CJF is a good but not elite coach, while also thinking CJF is doing a considerably better job as PSU coach than JoePa did in the 1997-2011 time frame. Those aren't mutually exclusive opinions.

I don't think there's any question that if you look at only the 21st century, JoePa has been our worst coach of the century. Who else could be?

My answer is the 2010 squad. Coached by JoePa.
Good for you...same coach, different year. 2004 in particular was painful, but I don't really care which pimple you think is the ugliest. I just wish I was there when Jay spit in your face or kicked your dog....it would have been awesome.

It is remarkable. We had LOTS of years at the end of JoePa's career where we underachieved. 1997. 1998. 1999. 2000. 2002. 2003. 2004. 2005. 2007. 2010. 2011.

Every year from 1997 onwards except for 2001, 2006, 2008 and 2009.

Hmmmmmmmm.

Your hatred, along with a few others, of all things Paterno is comforting to me. I'm sure Joe would have been happy to have been judged by the enemies such as yourself that he made.
I know this....he was the greatest educator-coach of all time. I am certain of his lasting contribution after attending the Rose Bowl and the Fiesta Bowl and seeing thousands of older folks, like myself, who respect and appreciate the career of this wonderful man. Penn State was blessed to have him......every single year he served as well as to have someone like James Franklin... who in a very short time has exhibited many of the best qualities that Joe stood for.
In short, JVP in his prime pissed over better men than you and his critics on the OGBOT.

I don't hate JoePa. I simply call it like I see it - he was a coach who declined significantly in the 2000s vs. previous decades of his career.

Right, we know about the dark years. Good job there. The other ones are a matter of opinion to you and you hold on to that Paterno grudge...it's cute. He's dead...let it go already. Wahhh, Joe wasn't Saban at 80 years of age...wahhh I don't like his son....wahhhh....seriously. Get a grip man. You'll defend Harbaugh to death and he never won a GD thing, but any PSU coach is fair game. You don't think people see through it.

Yep. NO excuse for losing that Michigan game. None. But JoePa meddled with the offense (we played so conservative for the first 45 minutes before opening it up and actually using our weapons) and the dumb decision to kick to Breaston at the end.

But what else was new? We were absolutely unable to beat Lloyd Carr in those days.

Anyway, the 2005 Michigan loss was on our coaches.

Of course. If you KNOW that they (PSU) is going to remove the statue, then flying the plane comes off as genius. If I have inside info that Trump is going to be impeached by the House, then me going on talk shows demanding impeachment makes me look like a genius.

Of course, it was an inside job. From top to bottom, this was orchestrated.
What does Trump have to do with this thread??

To the contrary, I have always been a Joe Supporter.

I do think he made a terrible and arrogant overreach in Nov 2001, but that's pretty much all the criticism I can muster.

The website was likely funded by Tom Bradley. Who else stood to benefit as much?

If the Jerry scandal hadn't happened, Joe would have coached what, two more games anyhow? And then Bradley would have still coached the bowl & probably would have inherited the position in 2012.
If the Sandusky scandal never happened and Joe remained healthy he would still be coaching today.

Then does he get credit for winning 11 games with a fullback as his quarterback?

Nothing. You have to understand that when McDoofus commandeers the stage he sometimes finds himself challenged for something entertaining to say. Actually, change "sometimes" to "most of the time."

Let me be the next of many to tell you you're totally full of shit.

underachieve - to perform below expectations or achieve less than expected, especially by others.

No one expected 2005 to be a great year for PSU, they weren't even ranked to start the year... but finished 3rd and one second away from being undefeated. That's called "overachieving" The one game they lost was the likely the most crooked officiating in the history of CFB. That certainly wasn't Joe's fault.

Wasn't he the coach that was in charge when our STARTING QB got knocked out in the locker room and didnt play in the bowl game? I'd pass on Tom even though I liked the guy.
The teams were so out of control then. Constant stream of players make the crime report. You also had teammates pulling knives out on others at training table. Joe was nothing more than a figurehead back then.

You have Mack Daddy on the brain. You just can't let him go, can you? There's a level of (ahem) obsession you have for him. It's obvious. Is it because he's smarter than you? Better looking than you? He has a full head of hair that makes you jealous? What is it?

Where else do I see such obsessive and authoritarian like tendencies by someone? Oh yeah, the White House.

These HARVARD scientists could be describing you, when you think about it.

1. The leader shows only a weak commitment to democratic rules.
2. He or she denies the legitimacy of opponents.
3. He or she tolerates violence.
4. He or she shows some willingness to curb civil liberties or the media.
