WHY PRAY TELL does Penn State basketball svck?

Yet we built a facility to have the floor space to hold the once in a blue moon wrestling tournament at the expense of basketball?

Only at Penn State.
I hope your not dumb enough to think the BJC was built for wrestling tournaments. It was always built to be a multi purpose facility. To host all kinds of events. In fact it was suppose to have ice until that was pulled at the last moment.

We lost three players this year. While this is normal, it's also not necessarily a good thing. We are replacing the three players, with a true freshman who may or may not contribute, and a transfer who cannot run, or jump.

We lost 3 players but 2 of them were in the rotation. Carr is going to play 35 minutes per game next year anyway, so losing Samuel doesn't move the needle much for me at all. He was fine, but he didn't really fit the team very well since he wasn't the most effective PG, and on offense he wasn't really useful unless the ball was in his hands and he could get into the paint. Teams did not respect him from the outside at all.

Losing Banks could hurt since he has some ability to stretch the floor, but I will say, he probably has caused me frustration more than any Penn State player in the Pat Chambers era. One game he's 4-5 from 3, the next he's trying to take OG Anunoby off the dribble. He'll make a big 3, then completely fall asleep on the weak side and his man crashes the offensive glass for an easy put back. That kind of inconsistency drove me nuts, which is why I was so frustrated with him. Hopefully we'll see enough development from the core that it won't matter.

Losing Washington, well, I'm not all that bothered by it personally. He was a really good athlete who just couldn't put it all together. Maybe that's a coaching error, but he just never had any standout skill unfortunately.

Oh my, sounds like an apologist. Suck it up, buttercup. LOL

It was a cold, January morning, 1989, I was sitting on the cafeteria steps of West Halls waiting for the doors to open for breakfast. I opened the Collegian newspaper and found out that Penn State joined (unofficially) The Big 10.

An article stated that BrucePa (Bruce Parkhill for you younger peeps) probably was reading this paper and his first thoughts would be "YES!"

Well, since playing B1G basketball, Penn State has gone...no where!

Why?!?

It's not complicated at all.

1. No history or tradition of winning in the program.
2. Subpar facilities and a terrible arena.
3. No financial commitment.

It's the same reasons why Indiana can't win in football.

The only way Penn State will ever be truly consistently good in hoops if if they score a major donor who is willing to bankroll it. Example: Penn State hockey.

Fine, but who is going to eat those minutes now?

can penn state create some kind of build fund to replace the BJC? Im sorry i really dont care about tennis or swimming. But i would donate to a new basketball only facility.

I am not buying that.. Come on. Northwestern proved that a non basketball school with the right coach can win!!! We just have not found a good coach... That is not fair... We have not found the right coach for PSU... These guys are good, just not what we need.
One good year proves nothing.

Carr is going to play the vast majority of the game, like 35-37 minutes a night type of minutes. Replacing Banks' minutes is a little more challenging, it'll depend what they can do on the transfer market and if Buttrick can play right away.

If you'll give $1000 and can find 150,000 friends to do the same, then we're talking business. Otherwise, it's not going to happen.

We have a lot of people who really care about football.
We have one really wealthy guy who cares alot about wrestling.

I care. However I'm not what would be considered wealthy.
I would be happy to donate $1000 toward a new arena if i knew the entire amount went toward the arena. But alas in today's world 500 would toward the arena and the other 500 would go in criminals pockets.

100 would go toward the arena, 500 in the criminals' pockets and 400 to the victims. We can't forget the victims.

I'd go for that minus the criminals share if the fans that attend the games are considered the victims.
