Why "Social Media" is great....

I’ll kill kayfabe to brag a bit… my local paper did a profile on my club.

Hope everybody’s having a happy Easter, if you celebrate it.
Dude, that's awesome.

I'll second the awesomeness of this. You are a big reason behind why wrestling is so great. Good for you!

Appreciate all the kind words. Truly. It's a bit self-indulgent to share, I realize.

When I was like 20, we took a group up to Fargo for Northern Plains. One of my schoolboy athletes got on a hot roll and made the finals. A parent of another tough kid walks up and asks "Now that you're in the finals, do you want a real coach?" ...I was standing right next to the athlete.

I know this man ain't doing great now, and it took all my maturity to not find him on social media and send him this with a middle finger.

I hold a mean grudge 😁

Just read the article. Great stuff and good on you.

I forget where the John Smith thread is, but this piece from last week suggests he's not leaving. SIAP.

I like Smith and I hope his teams climb back into a perennial top 5 spot. It is good to have a few challengers for Iowa to compete with for second, third or fourth place.

Just wondering what happens when our typical murderers row grows from 2, 3 or 4, to 6, 7, 8 maybe even 10 kids in a row? We seem to be getting closer.

Iowa and tOSU have each had historic recruiting classes recently, and to be honest, I can hardly remember. They certainly don't have me worried.

Great Job!!! All athletes benefit from a coach like you are who is "there for THEM"

I'd certainly be down with it, but tweeting at a stadium isn't exactly going to make it happen. A lot goes into making a bid, and I hope they jump through all the hoops.

Almost the entirety of non-Iowa fans’ reaction to Spencer wasn’t about Spencer; it was reaction to Iowa fans’ and the crazy things they write and say about Spencer and the Iowa way.

My takeaways from the interview:

1) He wrestled under incredible pressure at Iowa. Anything short of a first period finish yielded a “what’s wrong with him” reaction from his fanbase. And he didn’t like it.

2) He hates how his Mom’s reaction to his loss became a story. I hated that too. Leave moms alone. You don’t show the losing mom’s reaction. I’ve never seen that before and hope to never see that again.

3) He mentioned how he might one day regret not wrestling back but doesn’t right now. It may not be my place to say, but I still feel like the message that wrestling back would have shown to young wrestlers everywhere was an opportunity lost for the sport.
I have to wonder how we would have felt if Ed Ruth hadn't wrestled back?

Before Ncaa's I thought 165 was a toss-up. Third place, imo, showed me the toughest fought for placement. The agony of defeat and overcoming it. But that one won't end up in the trashcan in a tunnel.

Not so good as we probably wouldn't have won that tournament. Ed would have scored 5 total points vs the 18.5 he had by wrestling back. We won over Cornell by 14 points and Ed beat Cornell's Mack Lewnes for third, so it's very likely we would have lost to Cornell.
