Will Betancourt

Less than a week after NCAAs and PSU has been connected to both Ivy League 125s, David Carr, AJ Ferrari and Daton Fix on this board.

Even funnier, this is the year where PSU really doesn't need a transfer if we get RBY back.

125 - Howard
141 - Bartlett
149 - SVN
157 - Haines
165 - Facundo

Now how good each will be in terms of scoring in late March? That's tbd but Cael put on the full court press for all of those guys for a reason I imagine.
Penn State's lineup next year after transfers:

125: Spencer
133: RBY
141: Clarke
149: Yanni
157: Carr
165: O'Toole
174: Starocci
184: Brooks
197: Ferrari
285: Steveson (decides against WWE for Cale)

On the Basch and Willie pod yesterday they said that Hamitti was the only TRFr AA this year and this broke a several year streak of young guys winning at NCAAs. Obviously until we get these covid years out of the system it will be wild with guys having extra eligibility and the ability to have a degree and transfer out.

These things run in cycles...the young guys are now old so for a new young'n to break through he is really going to have to work.

I would think Levi sits until january as has been the usual MO in the past. But if he is ready ala RBY, Nico well then the coaches send him out.

If RBY comes back do we need Levis points?

This is Ironturd material....but ...but...but...with RBY coming back the lineup really has a shot at sending all 10 to Tulsa and maybe 8+
Depends on Dean too.

It may sound ironturdish, but everybody knows you can type, breathe and think all at the same time. Ironturd can do only one of those at a time.

Ahhh beware the ides of March

I don't know if I would want anyone coming in next year, we are pretty well set.

Carr is the kind of kid that would fit like a glove in terms of personality, ability and team cohesion. I like the idea of Levi getting one more year to develop despite his appearing 'ready' to AA next year, a small sacrifice to have a shot at being a national champion out of the gate. Despite a 3rd finish for Carr, that is under performing, and if he indeed graduates in May, I think it makes sense from almost any angle.

Vito at 125 makes me drool. I think RBY returns so no need to speculate about 133.

Now let's look at last year's rumors

Suriano = F = soap opera & self absorbed. I am glad he passed.

Hildebrandt = C - a solid kid, his 2021 4th was not dominant so he might of performed about as expected. I don't think he fully returned to form coming out of retirement. In the end we didn't need his points, and by every measure he was a quality kid that made us all feel much better leading off duals.

Griffith = WD - a pipe dream, and the rebirth of the program needed him to lead. Good for Stanford.

Wick = F -we really missed out on this one and he probably missed out on becoming a champ. Administrators once again proved to be self important bureaucratic dolts.

Berge = B- - he shouldn't count as he was a home grown transfer back out of retirement. He too he didn't get enough time in at weight to be firing on all cylinders. I wish he decided back in October.

Dean = A+ - great for team chemistry even in a difficult situation with Michael. Exceeded expectations, provided huge excitement and bonus points all season. A great man by all measures, humble and appreciative. I hope he comes back and let the best man win.

I know I am missing someone but it illustrated that the rumor mill is well below 50%. I won't trust any rumors until they are official..... Except Vito and Carr ;-)
Drew wanted to be a Penn Stater, Suriano wanted the most money. Nick basically committed to PSU at one point and was training here and it seemed to be all but a done deal but then he told Cael hold up, I'm going to see what I can get elsewhere. He subsequently visited at least 4 schools IIRC (Nebraska, Iowa State, Michigan, Ohio State confirmed) to drive up his price. I'm happy we ended up with the kid who really wanted to be here.

Would I be saying this if somehow Michigan won? I'd like to say I would. Good for Michigan though, Suriano helped them to a B1G title and they jumped a very wounded Iowa team.

On another board someone wondering what's up with Seth Nevills. Didn't see him with the team. Any ideas?

If the team photo is evidence, then approx 10 guys didn't made the trip. I counted 29 wrestlers' heads (though I might have miscounted by 1-2), vs. 39 on the official roster.

Left out they also said he's not on the Spring roster.

Guess Seth is just living the best life at Penn State, it happens quite a bit with some former athletes. He's happy at Penn State as a regular student and has made relationships and memories that'll last forever. He has one more year of school anyways so maybe he'd rather just focus and graduate and move on with life.

Perhaps, should also note that Nick and Zach both live in State College.

Also possible that they all took a family trip to se AJ, so he went but not with the team.

Yeah and the fact he's graduating and had a "subpar" tournament. I will say his friendship with AB is definitely stronger than the high five after a good match one. He said he confided in AB when he lost in Round 2, which is interesting, usually you lean on teammates and coaches during this tournament for that (no matter how good friends you are with others) and he was the first to find AB basically after AB won on Saturday night.
He is friends with Aaron, but he is also tight with alot of guys on the team. His brother coaches at LHU and he spends as much time in the summer in central PA rolling with PSU, LHU and other available guys as he does in Ames with ISU guys.

Then he should spend more time breathing.
You would think. It is amazing he can hold his breath as long as it takes to spew his stupidity. It is obvious though that as soon as he holds his breath his thought process ceases to function.

I saw it looks like Kennedy Monday is looking to be on the move. Said he just realized he has 2 years of eligibility left. I'd share it, but I have no idea how to share a post on here.

I don't think he wrestled this past year and had a rough end to the year before (0-2 at the ACC tourney). Don't think he would be much of an addition, but would make for a heckuva room guy for guys like Facundo to work out with and make us stronger overall!

Looks like one year of eligibility, but it is confusing these days. https://www.wrestlestat.com/wrestler/45025/monday-kennedy/profile

If you go by the stunned look on Askren's face and his Immediate reaction to ( Apparently off-the-cuff ) connect the name to Penn State it has to be:
1. Someone Quite High Level
2. Someone who has an obvious connection to PSU and/or it's athletes
The most high level wrestler that has been the most visible friend/connection to PSU athletes that would illicit that immediate reaction from Ben would be.....in my opinion......David Carr. Ferrari? No way. Fix? Can't fathom it... OSU in his blood. Sasso? Not sure why Ben who associate him immediately to PSU. Glory? Small chance...none if he has yet to get his degree. Vito? Again......why an immediate connection to PSU from Ben. Unless Pyles texted him (Blank) to PSU.........I really don't see any other reasonable possibility. Of course that doesn't mean the rumor is accurate........just saying that I would bet a 20 that the rumor involved Carr unless Pyles gave a different name....like Deakin and included the "To PSU" in the text. So.....problem solved. Carr is the rumored wrestler.....PSU is Ben's assumed destination. Time will tell.
PS: If this turns out to be complete Bull.....I will do a "Mineo" and make this post disappear so don't anyone copy it for eternity :)

My money is on Carr for no other reason that I don't see another fit. Carr in the Penn State room has awesome potential. I also keep thinking a 141 while Bartlett RS, but can't come up with a name.
