World Cup

Yianni vs Amouzad was a great match. Yianni made adjustments and didn’t give up anything from the underhook or from the Amouzad whip over but he couldn’t generate much offense either. The duck he hit was beautiful though.

Really smart disciplined match from Pantaleo until the last 15 seconds. Got bailed out a bit with his head touching out before he got turned.

I can’t wait for Snyder vs Ghasempour!! That is a huge match. I have Snyder in a tight one but Ghasempour is as good as anyone in the world outside of Sadulauev

At 86k. Valencia take down 2-0. Another take down 4-0. Intermission 4-0. Karimimachia on shot clock. Valencia 5-0. Karimi Push out 5-1. Karimi take down 5-3. That's the final 5-3

I almost feel bad for Zahid because I think he is probably good enough to win world medals but is stuck behind Taylor. DT is just a horrible match-up for Zahid
Zahid has wrestled well all weekend. not a fan of the hair though. he messes with it the entire match.

I agree. I commented on it yesterday. Zahid did wrestle really well all weekend though. He’s so explosive

At 92k. Nathan Jackson vs Amir Firouzpourba. Jackson double to back 4-0. Reversal 4-1. Take down Firouz 4-3, challenge USA. Ruled 1 pt fleeing 4-2. No TD. Jackson puts Firouz on back 6-2. Intermission.
Firouz expose back 6-4. Then Jackson takedown. 8-4 Final

At 97k. Kyle Snyder vs Kamran Ghasempour. Ghasem on shot clock. 1-0 Snyder. Intermission
Snyder on shot clock. Snyder with push out 2-0. Snyder push out 3-0. Snyder takedown 5-0. Captain America wins 5-0. Clinch World cup at 6-3. One match to go.

At 125k. Hayden Zillmer vs Amir Masoumi. Masoumi take down and turn 4-0. Masoummi push out 5-0. Another push out 6-0. Zillmer push out 6-1. Intermission.
Zillmer looks small. He fought like hell. Shot a bunch. That's Final Masoumi 6-1

I think sometimes people, myself included forget just how good Snyder is. Ghasempour completely shut down J’Den and Snyder just completely controlled Ghasempour. If it wasn’t for Sadulaev Kyle would probably be considered the US goat over JB. He still might get there especially since he wants to wrestle til he’s 40. Pretty special time for US wrestling with Kyle, JB, DT, Dake, J’Den, Gilman, etc

Masoumi is only 18?? He is already a walking Eclipse. Frightening
Spotted Suriano walking beside Nolf. Nick sporting a beanie and sunglasses.....inside. Classic Nick :)
PS: Thanks FLO....nice job producing a great show despite having to do it at a place more dangerous than Iran :)

The Lowes ads blocking the action every so often kind of sucks though.

If Yianni wants to beat that Iranian he needs to follow Dake to the NLWC and I think JB might need a few workouts as well with our guys.

Are you refering to Nicky Dahmer?

Anyone else wondering if Zahid vs DT will actually be at thing at Final X? Z-money has added a lot of power, and a pretty dominant par terre game since Final X. I feel like I was wondering if it would be tough for DT last year too--but Zahid was the best US wrestler this weekend (except for maybe Captain America).

Zahid looked great, but I just can't see anyone domestically beating a fully healthy and committed DT in a best of 3 this cycle.

How many

People thought Zahid might take a match or the series from DT this past year.

He didn’t score a single offensive point.

You're probably right--but I seems pretty clear to me that Zahid has jumped levels since then. Maybe he'll get a TD this year.

I think DT is just a horrible match-up for Zahid. Taylor’s baseline defense has gotten so good that he’s not going to give up anything easy and his scrambling is still better than anyones. He’s also now bigger and stronger than pretty much every 86kg with the best gas tank in the world. I feel like DT is the number 1 or 2 p4p wrestler in the world right now (Sadulaev) after his complete dismantling of Yazdani at worlds. Zahid should make things closer than last time but it would take the perfect storm for him to knock off David

Has Zahid jumped levels or was he just always really good? Even before his suspension he had great international results. He’s probably a Top 5 guy in the world at 86 kilos.

Eventually the torch will be passed, but I’m not sure it’s this year.
