The corner table at the Skellar
that the Big Ten and another conference -say the ACC- have a season opening game much like the SEC -ACC games that are in Atlanta every year.

My brother (a Terp) and I had this discussion and agree it's reasonably feasible.

An optimal location might be Redskins stadium which sits in both ACC and (now) Big Ten footprint.

Thoughts?

Art-feel free to tell me how me how wrong I am on this.

Very feasible, imo. DC is an interesting idea, but home sites could also be used on a rotating basis. Example: PSU plays a challenge game every other season; one home, one away.

And while playing in DC is a good idea, if they do an opening (or 2nd) weekend 'challenge' style approach ala hoops, there are any number of NFL stadiums in both footprints that could be utilized (without utilizing home venues for teams, such as Heinz or Miami) and would be a great trip for many alums and fans in the area. Loss of 1 game home site revenue would have to be offset somehow. Creative minds could figure that out, I'm sure.

Chicago
Charlotte
Green Bay
Jax
Cleveland
Foxboro (BC... tough to sometimes remember they are in the ACC now)
Giants Stadium (Rutgres... tough to accept that they are in the B1G now)

I'd rather see B1G/SEC games.

ACC was just used as an example based on the Chik Fil-A games with feature SEC and ACC since Atlanta is situated in both footprints.

That's why Redskins Stadium came to mind. It sits in both footprints.

I can't think of another stadium that sits in a footprint of the Big Ten and another conference thereby serving both conferences and fan bases. Maybe Big 12 and St Louis -especially since the Rams moved out. But ACC football is much better than Big 12 football.

I think that the greed of certain elite teams and the top P5 conferences is actually costing them money. If there was a change to a national scheduling across all conferences, with OOC games rotating between all other conferences, then negotiate tv rights based upon a unified effort, the money would be insane and we fans would get to see more intersectional games against opponents. Win, win,win....

Michigan and Wisky have done this with the SEC at Jerryworld as the Advocare Classic, so it is possible. Although there is no conference lock, the SEC has appeared in 6 of the 9 years of its existence. They seem to do a good job of selling tickets so the concept is strongly viable.

Pitt is in the ACC, so Heinz Field would be another.

Not a problem. Michigan and Florida got $6mm to play in Texas. Alabama and FSU each got $5mm for their game in Atlanta. Even after expenses, each team cleared more than it would for a home contest.

There is a limit to network appetite for these games. They'd kill for the ratings Bama-FSU got. Michigan-Florida, good but not enough to justify the payout for the game.

Heard that stadium is a traffic nightmare to get in and out of.

Getting to FedEx Field isn't a problem - getting out IS.

M&T Bank Stadium, MetLife Stadium, Gillette Stadium, Heinz Field, and I think you could throw Lincoln Financial, and Bank of America Stadium could also serve as viable locations for games. I didn't add New Era Field in Buffalo because that is a bit outside the BC area.
