Aint gonna happen, this record is WAY under-appreciated in the sports world and we’ll never see it again.
For starters no one is gonna COME CLOSE to 159 matches.
75-O with 4 titles dont mean shit to me.
The 159 is incredible. And maybe 75 is a little low but if someone went 100-0 wrestling a Big Ten Schedule with four Big Ten Tournament championships AND four NCAA Championships… I’d allow it. The thing is, though, that no one has.
If you're to the point of saying 4 NCAA titles "dont mean shit" to you, I think your standards are slightly unreasonable.
Steiber, Dake, Yanni, Spencer... It is extremely hard not to lose even a single match. Even with a vastly reduced career match count whomever goes undefeated, if it ever happens again will deserve it. It also won't make him the GOAT.
That’s a lot of pressure to put on a kid that hasn’t had a year on a college mat yet.
I know y’all are eager to watch him go, and you should be, but damn, there’s a reason that’s only been done once. Wrestling is hard, winning a wrestling match is hard, winning an NCAA wrestling title is damn hard, winning four is incredible, winning four without ever losing might be the hardest thing to do in all of collegiate sports.

4 weekends?! Cael is the GOAT, but he didn't wrestle the BIG tournaments. Not saying he would have lost, but the BIG tournament is nothing to laugh at. So it's more like 8 weekends of really, really tough tournaments.
Cael has four great weekends, each of which was 5 months long.
Staying healthy for 4 years is no easy feat either for any wrestler, with all of the strain put on every joint during each match and practice.
Doubtful that many fans think this is a reality... But when these guys set their goals I'm sure this is their dream.
It's amazing how many "sure" things lose matches that no one sees coming.
Carter does not put up the lopsided victories like Cael did. I don't care if Carter wins 20 titles, I think Cael was a better wrestler.
Not saying Cael didn’t have tough competition but being undefeated also takes a little luck.. like who’s wrestling in ur weight(s) during that era.. it’s not if there will be another undefeated wrestler ever but when imo..
I would say the opposite. 159-0 takes luck right out of it.
I mean to say Luck as in if David Taylor didn’t have a game Jenkins and Dake in his era he might have also been undefeated.. there might not be another 159-0(less matches these days) but as long as wrestling keeps going then there will be a day where another undefeated comes along.. just like there will be more future 4x champs..
I know what you meant, I just see it differently. Part of the reason you don't equate Cael's contemporaries with Jenkins or Dake is that Cael NEVER lost to them.
One day another undefeated will come along. Until then and maybe after then, GOAT.
Some seem to have a tough time remembering Brandon Eggum, Vertus Jones, Brad Vering, Rob Rohn, Damion Hahn, Daniel Cormier, Andy Hovat and Jon Trenge were all pretty damn good.
