WR George Campbell commits to Penn State

Curious how this affects Kumah out of VT. Production wise, he's got a better outlook than Campbell, but the staff may well look to fill 2 WR spots with GTs.

Big, strong fast kid with one final shot at making something of his college career. That should bring a sense of urgency. Hopefully, he can stay healthy and make the most of it.

Coming out of high school, he was clocked with a 4.36 40 and 37-inch vertical jump. There's no wonder he was a consensus five-star recruit. Hopefully Penn State is where he turns the raw talent into production.

Maybe a worse-case scenario, he becomes a special team contributor. Heaven knows we need help there!

The look on his face is classic. Coming from Florida to this haha... Franklin must have laid out the red carpet for him.

On a serious note, it can never be a bad thing when you add a guy like this...
Right? Looks like a total bad-a...

Hey kid, hold onto the ball and we’ll love you.

Between the two, i’d rather have JJ coming back - for a lot of reasons, including more productivity, less of an injury history, and just because he’s always been a Penn State guy.

Hopefully this kid can stay healthy, but from what I heard from the FSU fans in the extended family - the kid was not only hurt almost constantly, but he “couldn’t catch a cold” when he was healthy enough to go.

Hopefully he can get up here, stay healthy, and have all the lights come on.
I agree fwiw

Me too but that aint happening and the ship, literally, just set sail for Oregon.
I'm also hoping we still get the kid from VA Tech.
I'd really like to add him to the WR room.

Just shows you how off these rankings can be. I see this as another guy we don't hear much from. The young guys will stay ahead of him. Guys like this should really go somewhere where they can really tear it up.

Worst case he plays good special teams, provides needed experience and depth and mentors younger receivers. Specifically the two young one's from Florida in Jones and Dunmore. No idea about the kid personally, maybe he wants to coach and has that kind of mind while playing some ball and his most valuable asset will be a mentorship. Seems like Seider knew him if he came north to play one more year.

One ranking exception doesn't say anything at all in terms of the rankings. The years of evidence of high blue chip ratios and top 5 recruiting classes consistently being in the playoff says the opposite of the point you're trying to make actually.

But it does show how off the rankings CAN be.

Happy to have Campbell on board and eager to see what he can do. I agree that we probably won’t hear much from him, but any productivity will be a bonus.

With Shorter, Dotson, Hamler etc. already in the fold Campbell will not have much pressure to come here and be the man.
Hopefully he can bring some leadership experience to our young Corp of receivers and maybe rediscover whatever it was that made him an elite prospect a few years ago. Win-win.
