This isn't far from me. Every year we have some maulings or deaths to grizz. From the reports I read these young men were doing the right thing. Just found an old grizz that woke up cranky that morning. Fact they had to help each other to the truck before they could get medical help shows the toughness.
Reminds me of the old story of the guy that was able to fend off a grizz attack with a .22. His buddy caught a bullet to the knee and didn't do as well.

That’s brutal, and amazing that both guys survived. Good on the guy that put himself in harm’s way for his comrade.
