One of the problems of a league with only 10 teams is that each is a relative all star team. It would be much more indicative of ability to evaluate the wrestlers if there were more teams therefore requiring evaluation of more than just the star wrestlers. Anyone can pick a strong team if they don't have to draft anyone ranked lower than 12-15. I don't know what the right number of teams per league should be, but I would think around 25 so that even wrestlers who won't make the NCAA tournament could have some impact.
I get your point about every team having a starting roster of top ten ranked guys, but if you have 25 teams the draft is unfair to those picking 20-25, because it's going to be very difficult to win the league with your best guy being a #3 in his weight. A 25-team league w/ 15-man rosters means that more than half the entirety of NCAA starters will populate the league. Lots of teams will be starting guys with .500 records. I mean, yeah, that's its own challenge, but it should be fun for casual fans too. I like a 10-team league b/c everyone has a chance at least one #1. Maybe 15 teams?the thing is, when everyone has a good team, no one does.
it's all about what you want to emphasize. with 25 teams you're trying to find the kid who barely gets in to the tourney who maybe makes the bloodround. with 10 teams, you're trying to find the guy ranked 7-10 who makes the finals. which one is harder to find? i'm not sure. which one is more impactful to actual ncaa team finishes? definitely the latter.
another issue with 25 team leagues, there are very few free agents that are worth a damn. if 80% of your roster is head and shoulders better than the free agents, there's really not a lot to do week-to-week. then we get to injuries. you draft seth gross in the first round last year in a 25 team league, guess what your season is over before it started. heck even bloodround guys would be mid-round picks if you have 25 teams.
however when there's a slew of capable free agents in a 10 team league, you have more decisions to think about and thus more opportunity to flex your evaluation muscles.
It doesn't differentiate between RS and non-RS....the Auto-Pick loves Jaydin Eierman...I may need to add that in.@andegre Definitely not a necessity but if it isn't too time consuming, seeing the round by round draft results would be cool. Btw, thanks again for doing this. It looks great!
I'm curious where in the draft, the autodraft picked Jaden Mattox for me. Do you have any kind of penalty in your algorithm for non-starters vs starters being autodrafted?
5 “real” users takes about 35 minutes. I think the BWI group had 6 so it may have been slightly longer than that. How long did the draft take? I wanted to draft with a test group, but I only have 1.5 hrs until a meeting after the start of the draft. I know I can autopick, but I don't want to slow things down if I do!!!!
So the league commissioner joined after about 4 rounds. I had toggled him to auto-pick since he was gone. What just happened? ringworm1998
