Wrestling for Life NCAA Challenge

Well mine happens to pretty much match my email address, though I moved the 86 from back to front. My scout username didn't have the 86, when I moved here my scout one was taken and 86 in the back was taken too, so had to put it in the front. Oh well...

Just saw Cowboy at the Pittsburg airport. Looks like an old wrestler and super neat to talk to for a minute.

Had an OSU wrestling shirt on so just for fun asked and it was. Was with several other people so didn’t talk long but nice to met you Cowboy. Thanks for helping the kids!

Cool, I travel a bit for work, so if I see someone that looks like an old wrestler I’ll have to start asking if they are on a forum.

Nice to chat for a minute. Sorry was so quick. Spending the first part of the week in Morgantown for work, tried to get in and out without any off PA rubbing off..:(

Paul, I spent an afternoon in Stillwater last Feb. asking everyone I saw wearing PSU stuff if they were Spyker, so...I guess turnabout is fair play! It never hurts to ask. Heck, if time would have allowed would have set and talked wrestling for a while.

Now if we could just get Spyker and the Ringchamps to come in with a CASH donation....
Apparently our friend Spyker isn't the only one who forgets to pay. Willie (yes, your main recruiter) apparently has an outstanding pledge to WFL. So Willie, @smalls103 after you get that one taken care of (which you have done) you should join in, pick a team, and donate to this one. Or, just so you don't forget, you can donate an amount up front  so you don't forget http://www.wrestlingforlife.org/index.php/donate here is the link to make it easy!:)

it would probably be wrong for him to pick a team.....

but if he wanted to match the winning team score that would be cool

Have Willie and Spyker ever been seen in the same room together?

(Internet implodes if that were even remotely true.)

And to top that off, here is todays! WFL doing great work-join in and everyone help him and have some fun at the same time!

"It's a busy day at Wrestling for Life. I shipped 37 pairs of wrestling shoes to kids whose families can't afford them and received 81 ticket donations in the mail. Thank you to all of the people who make this possible."

So, hypothetically, if I were to donate $2 for every point that Penn State’s total exceeds Iowa’s, then the accounting would add $2 to PSU’s per point donation, and subtract $2 from Iowa’s?

didn't I answer this elsewhere? If not, the answer is still no. But, I can calculate with some of the best, so don't be afeared!

Actually, the math checks out.

Say...
PSU 130, Iowa 80. I’d pledge $2*(130-80), or $100.

Alternatively $2*130 - $2*80 = $260 - $160 = $100

But, I don't want to build that into my nice, easy sheet-too lazy. Gotta spend my time advertising to get you bums signing up:confused:

I'll spread out the love!

$1 Illinois
$1 Northwestern
$1 Princeton

(I'll donate $100 if they don't get 100 pts combined).

Nice. But have to ask -- why those 3? Illinois & NW seem like a logical pair, but Princeton not so obvious . . .

I'm from the Chicago burbs and wanted to choose another team with an IL recruit (Brucki) and a top guy (Kolodzik). Also, maybe for like 6 seconds someone would think I was smart if I picked Princeton.
Which burb? In some, Princeton is a safety schoool :D.

"I have been a middle school wrestling coach for 20 years. One of the biggest challenges every year with the program is coming up with enough wrestling shoes for all of the kids who want to participate. Wrestling is the one sport where any old athletic shoe will not be sufficient! You have to have wrestling shoes to wrestle! I have (and continue to) spend my own money each year to purchase shoes for my wrestlers. Each year it gets more difficult to do. Two years ago, we had a flood at our school from a plumbing issue that filled my wrestling storage room with water. I lost 16 pairs of wrestling shoes that I had collected or purchased with my own money. Many of them were practically new. Because the district didn’t pay for them, the district wouldn’t cover them under their insurance. As luck would have it, Jim Brown (Wrestling for Life) sent out an email asking if any school needed assistance. I immediately contacted him and he provided me with some replacements. It was a huge relief. I recruit kids every year to wrestle (most of them with income restrictions). It is very valuable to be able to tell the parents that they don’t need to purchase any equipment. There is little, if any, money in the school budget to make these types of purchases. I would like to thank Mr. Brown for his efforts to support wrestling and hope that these types of programs are able to continue as they are vital to the community and our efforts to get kids involved in positive extracurricular activities!!"

Sincerely,
Brian Jeffords

should have done this for the scuffle!

Man, forgot all about this. Should have made my donation last week based on my best guess for NCAA points. Oh well, que sera sera (spelling?). Still expect us to score 140+ in Cleveland which should be a nice boon for Wrestling For Life.

Right now HR is ahead!

One of those fun things where everyone is a winner (except for SPYKER_ RINGS_CHAMPS who has proven himself to be the opposite by welching.)

Please see original post if you don't remember the game.

Getting closer and closer! If you aren't on the list above, come join us!

Below is a message from the founder of WFL.

This seems like a good time to update you all on some of the things you helped Wrestling for Life accomplish in the last 12 months. I hope it paints a picture of what your kindness means.
This weekend we are giving away tickets to the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships. Our total for the year will rank 4th in the 11 years that we have been giving tickets to wrestling events to middle school teams, kids clubs and youth organizations.

We sent wrestling shoes and headgear to middle schools, kids clubs and Beat the Streets organizations in California, Oklahoma , Georgia, New Jersey, Illinois and Iowa. The lack of adequate gear is one of the biggest roadblocks to youth participation.

Last spring and summer we launched 2 annual wrestling camp scholarships, the Bill Bails Scholarship is targeted to middle school athletes with 2 years or less experience. The Logan Luft Scholarship is geared to middle schoolers in general. We will be adding 2 annual scholarships this year, one for middle school girls and one for special needs athletes.

You also helped us send kids to the HWC banquet, support educational outreach at the Hall of Fame's 2 locations and help grow girls wrestling.

Cowboy, I don't see my handle on your list. I pledged $1.00 for every point PSU scores.

Cowboy, I assume this list is only the pay per point people, but there were some flat sums, correct? Me being one. They will count in the final bragging rights, right?

yes sir. I have you and 3 others (2BWI, 1 HR) already marked down as paid. Total of $118! Or, as I like to think of it, 3 pairs of shoes:)
