What I saw was Wisconsin having 7 players in the box to stop the read option ground game. In the second half, Yurich exposed the weakness by throwing quick hitters to the outside for positive gains. Then when coverage tightened he went max protect and let the speed get behind the defense. Then when the safeties and backers gave room the run worked. I did not see any depth from the receiver position group. But in a close game in the road is no time to work out the kinks. The O-Line was overwhelmed in the first half. Watch the tape. The line could not be successful running 5 or 6 against 7 or 8. But, this exposed the outside where Penn State had better athletes and speed. I will take Jahan v a Db one on one anytime over a read option run. I was surprised at the lack of attempts to the TE’s. I think there is plenty in the playbook as it unfolds this season.
