FB Recruiting Matt Zollers on his weekend visit to Penn State

Four-star Missouri quarterback commit Matt Zollers plans to visit Penn State this weekend but he says he's still locked in with the Tigers. We will monitor through the weekend as the Nittany Lions are reaching out to numerous QBs in the 2025 class.

"It’s going to be a good game to watch," Zollers said. "I’m still locked in with Mizzou."

ESPN Podcast Preview PSU vs OSU

Just watched this, Rece Davis, Pete Thamel, Joey Galloway

Thamel believes Allar will start and play, based on he is practicing as normal. He thinks it is a pain tolerance thing not he can't play on the knee.

A few interesting notes:

-Thamel believes Allar will play but thought he won't run the read option because of the injury. Galloway said OSU is vulnerable to the read option and Oregon's Gabriel burned them for a long TD on the read option. Implication here is Pribula could play more to take advantage of this read option vulnerability.

-Major concerns about OSU's offensive line. They don't think OSU can do much on offense because of how weak the offensive line is. Used 7 on 7 analogy, taking away the physicality. Carter was brought up as a major disrupter and thought he would line up against their LT.

It is unclear if the 2nd string LT who got hurt vs Nebraska will play. He was carted off the field. If he can't play then they could move a guard they have who is apparently really good and their best remaining linemen to go to LT but has not played the position since high school. Or some redshirt freshman who also is apparently very talented could move into the LT position. Galloway was laughing at the absurdity of piece mealing an offensive line together a few days prior to the biggest game of the year verus a very good defense. Bottom line is their O-Line is in a big state of flux and a big advantage for us.

They threw out this stat and it goes something like this regarding the OT Josh Simmons who is out for them. In 70 run plays that he has been in the game the RBs run for an average of 6 yards and 4 yards before contact and 5 TDs. In 60 plays roughly where he has been out, the average run is 2 yards and a half yard before contact and no TDs. I think these plays were essentially the Nebraska game and OSU did not play well. They will play better against us but the point is still valid.

-Rece Davis brought up the OSU strategy to do whatever was necessary to get the ball to Jeremiah Smith. Galloway called Smith a "grown man" even though just a freshman. Galloway acknowledged that could be a decent strategy but against good teams won't work consistently.

-Everyone thinks Penn State can win it but we have to prove we can win a game like this. We have one win versus a top 5 team since 2000. I think our record is 1-22! 1-12 or whatever under Franklin.

On the Josh Pate podcast he went as far to say he thinks Penn State should win but predicted OSU will find a way to win.

2024-25 Schedule & Video/Audio Streaming Options

Fellow Lion Fans:

Here's the Link to the Schedule & Video/Audio Streaming Options for the 2024-25 season as we now know (or assume) :D

=> Click Here <=

A couple of important items/assumptions to make you aware of:

1. Important: the "GoPSUSports" iOS app is now obsolete, you now need the "Nittany Lions" App to be able to stream GoPSU
2. Important: the over-air broadcast/radio stream this year looks like WOWY 97.7FM vs last year's Legends. (both on iHeart)
3. Confirmed: that non-conference duals at home will be streamed on BTN+ as in the past
4. Confirmed: that Journeyman National Duals will be streamed PPV on Rokfin as in the past
5. Reminder: there is another tab on the file that shares the current & long-range B1G & NCAA tournament cities/dates, based on current rotations,
6. Reminder: green text is confirmed by official sources, red text is assumption based on past experience, but subject to change

As more information becomes available, it will be updated. Be gentle on me for any errors you find, my old, feeble mind is not as sharp as it used to be!

Here's looking forward to another fun-filled season... ending in hardware!!

For the Glory.... Go Lions!!!

OT: Most memorable thing(s) you remember about your days as a student

Hopefully this stays as its own thread, as I've not seen one before. El Jefe's comment in the Blaze thread about freshmen STILL not being allowed to drive and park on campus got me to thinking about unforgettable moments and people I met on campus when I was there from 1982-85. I got a couple tickets for parking because I drove in from Lock Haven one term. Bastards!

1. 1982 was the last year for terms at PSU, and everything was done by paper back then. You wanted to change classes, you had to stand in lines to make a change. A "wonderful" experience to say the least. 1983 went to the semester system.

2. I took Theater 1 as an elective in 82 or 83 in Schwab Auditorium. I always remember a preacher outside that venue on many days telling us that we would be visited by the King of Kings. Of course, we all thought he was referring to Jesus, but no. He was referring to the Burger King. Always felt bad for him, as did most students. I always wonder what happened to him.

3. I grew up in a strict household. I didn't have my first alcoholic drink until coming to PSU. I started June 1982 in Porter Halls, and on night one I joined a grain alcohol party. What an introduction LOL. There was a female dorm next door and the most stunning model-quality girl would sunbath topless on many days. Mid summer we had a slave auction for something, and she was sold off as a slave. I wish I wasn't so poor in those days.

4. Very fond memories of the "Caboose", the speakeasy in back of the Train Station. I think the place had a 5 watt lightbulb for lighting. Big barrel of popcorn for dinner 3x a week.

5. My Big Brother at Tau Epsilon Phi fraternity was Steve Bosak, the future father of Scott Bosak. A great guy and very good chess player.

6. One of my roommates at TEP fraternity was Dave Paterno, the one who almost died in the trampoline accident years earlier. I once caught Sue Paterno as she was falling backwards on the circular staircase at the fraternity holding an oversized basket of clean laundry. Moms being mom.
