Why is Jay Paterno Voting against Lasch improvements?

Perhaps this is old news but it is news to me. According to the article linked below, Jay Paterno is one of 6 Trustees who voted against improvements to the Lasch building. I would think he would be one of the Trustees advocating support for the football program that his father built. IMO, it really comes off poorly to be one of the few trustees voting against improvements that are required to enable Franklin to compete for a national championship in today's college football world.

My 2 cents on the Franklin era.

Pros
Definitely revived our program. I don't think many coaches could have won a conference title so quickly.
Solid recruiter. Getting Barkley to flip from Rutgers most likely saved his job.
All positive, all the time.

Cons
Enough with the starts and ends with love. These kids need a little fear in them.
Recruits the star athlete over the star football player. Lots and lots of 4 stars that play like 2 stars.
Offense is built around skill and the big play. Fine and dandy. However, football starts and ends with the line of scrimmage. This has been a problem every single year of his tenure. If Franklin built this team around being physically dominant up front and then added in his skill philosophy, there is no doubt in my mind we would have won 2 - 3 more B1G championships.
Revolving door at offensive coordinator, say what you want, but Clifford having three OC's in three years is not gonna win you championships.
He stays loyal to a defensive coordinator who has not build a consistently strong defense. I thought this year was different after the Wisconsin game. I was wrong. Illinois owned us on the ground. Way too weak up front. Way too many blitzes. Way too many star LBers that are consistently out of position.
Eye popping numbers at the NFL combine do not equate to wins. We need a Strength and Conditioning coach that can develop disruptive defensive linemen and offensive linemen who can move people off the ball. We look like an FCS team out there.

ESPN College Football Final - Joey Galloway quote

in talking about the PSU-Ill game he said, "Sean Clifford was back healthy". In talking about the game they did not indicate that Clifford's health or PJ being out impacted the game. Were they watching a different game than we saw????? OSU will be at least a 40 pt favorite next week, if Vegas even makes odds. We struggled to score 16 pts in 9OT game against the worst team in the BIG, and one of the worst defenses among P5 teams. If we manage 10 pts v tOSU, what could our DEF do against their OFF that is currently playing as well as anyone. PSU has serious health issues at several key positions that have built up over a very physical schedule, and not close to the same team that beat Wisconsin. had we played OSU the day they lost to Oregon, maybe we win. how ESPN made no reference to the health of PSU was remarkable. a fully healthy PSU team wipes Illinois off the map, even if they played lethargic.

The last bastian of big time college football

..in the northeast, Penn State, is wavering. Will Penn State decline to the depths of Boston College, Syracuse, the service academy etc etc.? There really aren't any relevant College football schools in the NE except PSU. But it seems to be getting tougher to keep pace with the teams in the south with recruiting, facilities and competing on the field. I'm not sure the will is there to keep pace.

What adjustments would you make?

given the condition of the team, what adjustments would you make on both defense and offense for the rest of the year? changes in approach and/or player moves?

I start with the assumption that on offense, Sean Clifford is not going to heal by playing every week, and may deteriorate. No idea what the status of our 5 RBs is, but we may not have any RB that is 100% healthy right now.

Believe me, USC will still be happy to scarf up Franklin...

...and probably will do so at the end of this season.

His departure will make nothing better...only worse...both for Penn State...and the Big Suck, which has delighted in screwing us over.

Anyone who thinks we'd be better off next year without him is kidding themselves.

On the other hand, if that happens, the single consolation will be to see the Big Suck go down the drain football-wise and revert to its pathetic state before we were dumb enough to join.

That said, it was an excruciating loss today...though as the game went on, it had an air of inevitability to it.

Worst play calling of all time

Illinois was begging us to pass.

Passing is our strength and should have been used to open up the run option.

But we just kept running, over and over right into their DL.

Any HS coach could have called a better game plan. I don't give a rats ass how Cliff wasn't up to par.

Cliff had to be good enough to throw the ball against this pathetic defense.

And what happen to "TAKE WHAT THE DEFENSE GIVES YOU"??
