197 rankings - Darmstadt?

That's a pity. I was hoping he and Bo would get a chance to square off--Darmstadt has the funk.

That Conel would be nightmare to have to wrestle, but I still don't know how he holds 197. He must be pretty short, I'm assuming. What a bull!

I agree, that's one of the matches I was hoping to see as well.

Not often do #1 and #2 square off in the first match of the year, should be interesting.

I didn't even know that. So, it's a dual between Kent State and PSU?

Yep, that's the first match, home vs. Kent State. Should be a good test for Bo to see if he can handle the strength of a 197 lber. Like you said, he's a bull, they don't come much stronger.

I had thought that the 3 matches I wanted to see Bo have were Conel, Moore and Darmstadt. Sounds like Darmstadt isn't happening but we'll see Conel right away.

Edit - I also look forward to seeing him face Warner but for different reasons. Bo does like to pin the Hawkeyes

Bo vs Kollin Moore should be very interesting. Just my preference, but I'd rather see that match than another go-around with Myles Martin.

Technique, including leverage, against the physically strong wrestlers. I remember going to Va Tech to watch a dual during Bo's RSFR season, 2nd match of his PSU career, and ol' noodle arms stopped a Zach Epperly attack cold. Better if you'd have seen it, but it was a sight I won't forget...as I don't often see an aggressive move like Zach's stopped like it was. Maybe some on here saw it, I'm sure NoVa did...as my words aren't doing it justice.

I like the match-up.

I watched the match and remember Bo winning the match, but I can't recall the exact move you are describing.
Nico and Gulibon lost, Rasheed gassed and lost to McFadden and Jason and Bo dominated two really good kids. Can't recall scores, but remember a fun match.

The best part of the match was when Epperly must have said something to Bo and Bo proceeded to headsnap Epperly to the mat about 5 straight times in quick succession.

I don't think strength is going to bother Bo. Gabe Dean was pretty freakish in his strength and was a much better technical wrestler than Conel is.

I had forgotten about that. Tried to find a video but couldn't so this is from memory. Epperly took a shot and Bo blocked with double underhooks. Happens all the time and action continues. But in this case it was like Epperly ran into a brick wall and both wrestlers were frozen in place for a couple of seconds. Everyone around me was like WHAT WAS THAT? I haven't worried about how strong Bo is since that moment.

My recollection is that Epperly's shot was really, really good. He should have had Bo dead to rights for the takedown, or at least forced him into a scramble. Instead, Bo stoned him, and what was so remarkable was the position they were in, when Bo stopped the shot. Bo was very upright, not really in good position, and it was like Epperly was at the point of a double leg just before you dump the guy. Problem was, Epperly was trying to dump Bo Nickal. Stalemate.

I was there as well... I wasn't expecting Bo to win but he made it look easy!

One of my favorite Bo moments was when he wrestled Gravina at Rec Hall. Gravina was chipping at him, hard snaps from natural, everything Gravina did was physical but you knew Bo would have his moment. Later in the match, Bo reversed him cleanly but with such force, I know East Coast Richter Scales were wondering what the piss was that.

Whatever you call those arms of his, I'm glad he is on our side with that arsenal. I'm really going to miss him. Great wrestling, great person. After enjoying his talent this year, I hope his picture is on the NLWC Resident Athlete web page.

He was lucky Bo was a freshman. Now a days if you get in on Bo's legs like that you get rag dolled and pinned.

That was definitely one of many Bo matches I won't soon forget.

NoVa and pawrestler remember it exactly as I did. I've watched underhooks be effective in stopping single leg or blast doubles for decades, but Bo's vs Epperly was different. As NoVa said, we knew then, if we didn't already, that Bo was one strong dude.

I just don't personally see Moore being on NIckal's level. I'm not seeing how this will be as big of a challenge as will be Conel…

Edit...but who am I to say?
