2017 Preseason Practice Articles/Discussion

I suppose the question might be, can he make it work with a qb more close to Braxton Miller than those others? And the other question, is, will this be his offense or Urbans offense? I've seen the second question answered three different ways so far and it's August 18th.

Great stuff! Assuming Penn State is the team we expect they will be, then, that is one of the biggest questions of the college football season -- how good will the Ohio State offense be? How much can Barrett improve?

If their OL is not a whole lot better than last year they're going to have to throw the ball to be effective against good defenses.

And last year they were not a great throwing team -- they had young receivers and a quarterback who is not particularly accurate beyond 20 yards.

FYI a lot of players on the PS team are wearing these. I think Trace, Quon, and Stevens...

I wonder how many phone numbers each player gets on average during move-in day. Gotta be at least 5.

That moron also said in the same segment that "without Saquan Barkley, Penn State struggles to make a bowl"

Not surprised in the least from that guy. Yeah, only have a soph 5 star backing him up who averaged 7.5 ypc as a frosh. Anyone would be a drop off from Barkley, but come on.

Did Miles really average 7.5 ypc? I didn't realize that. For some reason I thought he had been solid but not much better than that. Impressive!

He didn't have a ton of carries and also had too many fumbles, but definitely showed a flash. I think you'll see a much more explosive year from Sanders. Our S&C program is really top notch.

Wow I'm liking these new numbers - 230+ for Toney is fine for a guy that's supposed to rush the passer on 3rd and 15.

Kevin Givens at 6'1 and close to 290 ->> this guy could become an Aaron Donald-type player! I love his ceiling.

Other interesting info....

44 Brailyn Franklin LB FR/FR 6-2/204 - Word was that he looked pretty big compared to his listed weight. Not to me... - definite redshirt.....

36 Jan Johnson LB JR/SO 6-2/234 - Was light last year due to Wrestling training as a freshman. Nice to see him at MLB weight. Good to have more depth there.

50 Max Chizmar LB FR/FR 6-2/221 - Legacy walk on. Nice initial size....

13 Ellis Brooks LB FR/FR 6-1/235 - Word was he lost some weight from his high school listing, but looks to have put it back on....

51 Alex Gellerstedt OL SO/FR 6-6/304
71 Will Fries OL SO/FR 6-6/305
Good OT size after a full year in the S&C program. Which one will see the field first?????

As others have noted, those that will make up the starting OL are HUGE! This is looking like a Wisky OL, except more athletic!!!
