2017 World Championships Thread

My whole thing with the DT / Cox thing.

That 3rd match was ref'd atrociously.
But DT was tied with him in the 2nd match, gave up a TD and lost.

DT should have beaten him in the 2nd match.

DT is and will always be one of my all time favorites, but he's coming off as a jerk and making this whole Cox thing personal. Be mad at the refs from the WTT, fine...but Cox just did what he was allowed to do. Time to support the man and put bitterness aside.

Or atleast adhere to the age old advice of, "if you don't have anything nice to say..."

I think this is a bad look for a great role model in our sport!
I agree with this. Problem is, imo, it escalates quickly with social media being what it is today, many (including other wrestlers, fans, media, etc.) go to that ugly place where they take it personal. Ends up as a mountain made from a molehill. All because of one tweet. Someone should have been the "better man" here, and swallowed his pride, and not sent the tweet. Appears some on here are still stewing too...

EDIT: In the 2 minutes it took me to write the post above it has already amped up.

DING! DING! DING! J'Den spent the first half of the 2nd period dancing. And then went crazy at the end. Should have had more urgency at the start. I say the same thing to the kids I coach. Don't come off the mat pissed that you lost because you went crazy the last 30 seconds. Where was that energy earlier? It's clear you had it.
Alnost entirely agree with this.

Also need to note: if you only have 30 sec left in the tank, criteria rules say you're better off using it at the end.

Just one more reason to scrap criteria.

Why? It's no different than when Zach Rey went off on CPyles. You don't get to have your previous achievements as a shield against all future criticisms.

Sorry, but it comes off as being a sore loser. Instead of tweeting about it go out and beat the guy who is representing the USA. Being humble (as Cael preaches) win or lose and move on and get better. Some things are better left said to your wife and friends and doesn't need broadcast to the twitter universe.

Questioning a man's "fight" is a very tricky thing to convey in a manner that doesn't look tactless.

DT is frustrated, and I get it, but it's unnecessary heat brought on him. Which, I'm guessing he's slowly starting to not give a shit, and that's great in my book lol.

Exactly. Does he lose the moral high ground? Sure. But I love that he said it.

I want DT to get on instagram with the kid rock shirt that has 00 on the front and "F*%$ GIVEN".........that would be an epic troll job and complete his transformation to the dark side.

DT and Dake riding together again!!!

While DT is entitled to his opinion, to spout it off when someone else is representing the USA and you are trying to open a new business.......is a Kaepernick.

Like most tweets, this is one that the world could have done without. I suspect DT fired it off rashly, and may later wish he had not. That said, it's really not that big a deal, though I'm sure lots of folks will overreact.

Take a look at Olivers tweet...something that supports and then heats up their personal rivalry...I like that approach much better!

Trust me, it'd take a ton more than a tweet or two for me to be anything less than 100% behind DT...I just prefer a different approach than the one he's taking.

Even more hilarious is this:

Talk about a lack of self awareness. Downey and his dad have had PD3 win both NCAAs and WTTs repeatedly behind twitter.

when is revenge porn not revenge porn, well when she goes to the cops to say but I love him.......

he is going to be great for banter this season.

I think a fair interpretation is that DT's expressed disgust was partly with himself for not managing to be there.

Completely agree. Pretty clear that DT's disgust is about his loss to Cox, but was suddenly multiplied when Cox laid an egg at Worlds.

Well, like I stated earlier, the people of the world would be better off without DT's tweet. So I agree with you. But I'm also saying DT's tweet isn't enough to get all worked up about, though some folks undoubtedly will.

+1. I continue to maintain that the world would be a better place without Twitter.

Facebook has to be the worst thing to happen to new retirees. Especially driven, successful people who suddenly have tons of free time + void in purpose. I know quite a few who went from lucid to batsh*t crazy in 3 clicks or less.

It's like the retiree version of the old joke: instant a-hole, just add alcohol.
