DT is and will always be one of my all time favorites, but he's coming off as a jerk and making this whole Cox thing personal. Be mad at the refs from the WTT, fine...but Cox just did what he was allowed to do. Time to support the man and put bitterness aside.
Or atleast adhere to the age old advice of, "if you don't have anything nice to say..."
I think this is a bad look for a great role model in our sport!

I don't know. Maybe Cox has let him know he thinks he's much better on an occasion or two since the trials.

Yeah he's going to get some backlash for those comments but he's a grown man. He probably won't back down. He is likely still salty from that loss. That cuts deep when you get robbed like he did at the trials. Which was too easily brushed aside by the wrestling community. I can't watch that match without being upset to this day.

It's easy (for Ramos) to praise a winner who makes the praiser look good.
It's harder (for DT) to not slam a guy who lost and made the slammer look bad.

Was he right? I mean, we all thought the same thing. I'm glad he said it aloud. Wrestling will have to toughen up a bit in this sense. Our athletes can't take outside criticism. It's no different than a journalist saying it to be honest. Maybe there's some honor among athletes, but he is, at the least, correct.
I think it's absurd that a challenger (DT) has to wrestle a whole tournament before facing the incumbent (Cox) in a best of three on the same day. Ridiculously huge advantage. That ain't cox's fault nor is what the ref allowed in the match against DT. This is a horrible look for DT. Fair is fair. If it was Gilman or Ramos we'd be flipping out.
Just read the Flo article. DT's gone full heel. Holy cow. You could hear the literal vomit in his mouth when he tweeted the semis matchups.

Not a good look for DT. I would hope he has more common sense than that. Cox has a bronze medal and DT should show him more respect than that.
It's not like DT's commentary was inaccurate. People are so sensitive these days. Perhaps he's been too nice of a guy and too quiet about his loss. I would guess the people trashing him now will be fuel for his fire. Really the outcome today isn't much of a surprise. While I was pulling for Cox, I didn't think he would be world champ this year but would have loved to be proven wrong. Cox doesn't have enough offense against the elite. He may have elite defense and strength but being down 6-0 at the break meant the match was likely over.
Why? It's no different than when Zach Rey went off on CPyles. You don't get to have your previous achievements as a shield against all future criticisms.
DING! DING! DING! J'Den spent the first half of the 2nd period dancing. And then went crazy at the end. Should have had more urgency at the start. I say the same thing to the kids I coach. Don't come off the mat pissed that you lost because you went crazy the last 30 seconds. Where was that energy earlier? It's clear you had it.
I got several monuments to sell you.....on the cheap. But you have to pick it up
