2018 NCAAs -- Session 2 Thread

These announcers make so damn many factual errors. Jim Gibbons just said that Nolf vs. Kemmerer is a rematch of last year's finals.
Kemerer* Errors are easy to do. Especially on live television. Give Jim a break he is old and been a long day;)

One can now easily see the crimes committed with the seeding: Micah Jordan and McKenna given easy paths; Pletcher avoids the best guys; Nolf vs. Kemmerer in the quarters when they should have been put on opposite sides of the bracket.

Some of you need to stop worrying about tOSU and enjoy our guys. We have now won 16 straight matches, yet we bellyache.

If we keep winning, and they keep winning, we will eventually step on the same mat. Of the potential Championship Flight matches only Snyder vs Nevills is decidedly in their favor.

I feel pretty good actually. I remember sitting in rec hall when Lee dropped that close bout to Joey. Myself, and most people, thought that the match was out of reach. We all know how that ended up. Point is... I think there is a lot of Magic remaining in these lions. We are!!!!

quarterfinal matchups for PSU:

149: Zain vs. Boo Lewallen (Ok. St.)
157: Nolf vs. Michael Kemerer (Iowa)
165: Joseph vs. Isaiah White (Nebraska)
174: Hall vs. Taylor Lujan (No. Iowa)
184: Nickal vs. Maxwell Dean (Cornell)
197: Rasheed vs. Michael Macchiavello (NC State)
285: Nevills vs. Amar Dhesi (Oregon St.)

I was looking over the championship bracket and the old adage it's better to be lucky than good comes to mind. Now that's a bit simplistic, as OSU is also really good, but they will have not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 Quarterfinals where their opponent is there by virtue of upsetting the higher seeded opponent. On paper 141, 157, 184, and 197 all skew heavily in their favor. Contrast that to PSU who has only one upset of note at 165 to work with. If The Bucks win on Saturday, they will have wrestled well, but they will definitely have benefited from some genuine chaos in the draw.

tOSU got about the best draw they could hope for at 141.
That said, the seeding at 157 was just retarded. There is no other word for it.

141, 157, 184, and 197 woof. Add 125 and 285 and they are sitting very well to send at least 6 to the semis. They could conceivably send all 9 although I don't think they will.

We really need to show up tomorrow, as I believe we will find ourselves in some real dog fights at 157, 165, 197, and 285. We could go 7-0 if things break well or 4-3 if we get sloppy. The margin of error is so slim as I believe the Bucks can practically sleep walk 6 or 7 kids into the semis.

It is going to be challenging tomorrow. I am especially worried about Jason. He looks to be about 75% to me and Kemerer is moving well. Jason will need all of his wrestling knowledge in that matchup.

Allowing Tom Ryan to be in a position where he can influence seeds is ridiculous. Not saying he did, but why give people ammunition to question it?
