2019 Graduate Transfer Recruiting Thread

Hopefully, this thread will be a clean break with the degenerated 2019 recruiting thread. With the diverse undergraduate and graduate school offerings at PSU coupled with the great reputation PSU has for looking out for the health, development and long term interests of it's players, I do not see why PSU would not be able to take advantage of the transfer portal as much or more than any P5 program.

Way too many smartasses on this board, including me.

Jim, I really wasn't trying to be a smartass. I apologize if my post came off that way ... I was making a lame attempt at humor, and at my age, I should know better. I have never made snarky comments to other posters -- well, unless they are trolls form Michigan. In such cases, I feel justified.

It's about playing time

No need to apologize. If there’s any blame to be dealt out, it goes to me because I didn’t make it clear how much I enjoyed your joke. I thought it was great. No worries.

Yes, it is in some cases. How do you account for the WR from Miami that has had plenty of playing time jumping in the portal with 2 years of eligibility left or the grad student that will get a year of grad school by providing depth. Your post exudes a certain myopic perspective.

Actually, no it does not, nevertheless I'd expect some smart ass remark from you. I was speaking relative to kids comingTO PSU. Most kids transferring from one school to another do not care about much other than playing time, hence why they transfer in the first place. And I dont think schools like PSU will see an influx of transfers unless there is basically guaranteed playing time to be had, quality of educational program be damned. Until this sorts itself out is why you see more kids leaving our program than joining, because they want....playing time.

The Miami WR has numerous reasons to transfer, one of which includes his coach being fired and his team, specifically QBs peforming like trash last year.

The formula % is likely different for each athlete. The feeling that he has not been valued and evaluated correctly, therefore seeks a fresh start. An inordinate amount of depth in his position group meaning that extended playing time isn't likely to occur. Coaching changes....head coach and or position coach. Personality conflicts with team mates or coaches. The desire to go to a program that has a chance to win. The realization that time is running out and moving to a lesser program where he is likely to be a stalwart. Its a divorce. Some are amicable.....others not so much.

Pitt should get every grad or portal transfer if playing time is the issue.

They suck!!

Great. Now transfers are doing top 6s, 10s, or whatever. This is fine for coming out of HS, but prefer the transfers just announce like JJ rather than creating this drama.

This is a Transfer doing this? If he graduated and it's a one year gig that's a little more understandable but still

Campbell is a good example of many of the players in the transfer portal. For whatever reason(s), they just never lived up to rating and/or potential and now sit down the depth chart.

Campbell was hurt a lot, lived through some coaching changes and had some terrible QBs to work with at FSU. I did read he was a good special teams guy (he has the neck of a linebacker).

Since we have several scholies available, I think he is worth a shot and will add depth as a "big" wide receiver, if only for our DBs to practice against.
