2020-21 Sixers Thread

My 15 year old daughter started playing basketball for the first time ever 6 months ago and was on her high schools JV team - she has a higher free throw shooting percentage than Simmons - how can you be a pro basketball player and be unable to make free throws and jump shots from the field with any consistency
Quite a few power forwards fall into that category. Unfortunately for the Sixers, Simmons is a point guard.

I'd like to report the Celtics post to Tom immediately. The sheer AUDACITY shown posting Celtics schit on toms sixers thread is beyond comprehension.

lol, I had a similar response when I first saw @Delco Lion's post. But Celtics have been under performing all season, and have been the perennial rivals with the Sixers for decades, so I'm willing to grant a bit of an exception.

Me the second I heard this news...

To try and encapsulate "The Process" into a few sentences:

76ers lose a lot of games for many, many years to try and get top picks to find generational talents. Awful basketball consumed by the fans of Philly.

They mostly miss (see Fultz, Markelle and Okafor, Jahlil amongst others).

Some become serviceable players and even All-Stars here but mostly elsewhere (Holliday, Jrue, Williams, Louis and Vucevic, Nik).

Everything hinges on an injured center from Kansas who skipped his first few years as a pro due to injury/recovery. He becomes an All-Star and is capable of amazing things on the court.

After #21 develops the team trades a lot of players and assembles multiple rosters that have at least one obvious flaw (see Reddick, JJ and defense, and Simmons, Ben shooting/FT shooting).

A bad shot from the corner by K. Leonard bounces in and ends their deepest playoff run vs. the Raptors who win it all.

With #21 they've got a shot. Without him they will beat poor teams and lose to good ones.

Was at the parade in 1983- skipped a day of high school and snuck a 6 pack into the Vet.

Fingers crossed for the best- but not optimistic : (

Thought they were gonna get the home court bump to start the game. Boy was I wrong. Horrible shooting so far. That better clear up fast or this is gonna be a long night. Down 7 early.

Yeah, they had time to prepare for being without JoJo, so their start was disappointing. That said, as I'm sure you know, basketball games are a marathon, and good teams can easily overcame slow starts. And in fact, the Sixers were up a few minutes ago by 7, 87-80, in the 3rd quarter.

@MJG-90 -- I thought the officiating has been pretty good so far. There have been some ticky-tack calls that should not have been called, and some other pretty obvious calls that were missed, but that's BB. A couple of the charging calls were pretty bad, and is pretty much always the case in the NBA, a few travels have been missed.

It’s not uneven. Just all over the place. Sometimes they let it be physical. Then a little tap gets called. Really I was talking about a run of weird the last half of the second quarter. The third quarter was much more what I’m used to seeing.

Sixers by three TDs with 4:13 to play. On to round 2!!!
Hawks up big over the Knicks right now. If that stays does anyone know when round 2 will start? Hoping for a longer layoff for obvious reasons.

Sixers shut down the Wizards in the 4th quarter, and were able to empty their bench toward the end of the game. Sixers win the series 3-1, with a 129-112 win in game 5.

Alla hasn’t hidden his disgust for the refs this whole series. It’s been fantastic.

True, and I've agreed with some of his criticisms on specific plays.

That said, it's not as though it's a new schtick for the playoffs. He's been complaining about the reffing all season.

They payed absolutely great defense in the second half. Credit Simmons, Maxey, and Curry with playing strong games and with Doc putting the right players out there at the right time. Maxey is no match for tired legs of the Wizards, and Simmons defense and presence around the net were important contributions. Almost all the Sixers played well tonight.

Maxey at 21 was a steal
Wow

Embiid will be fine.
No real risk for further injury and players go through seasons with what he has. It sounds way worse.

Hey Sixers, as a Knick fan, please do me a favor and plant that little flopper Trae Young, on his a** a few times. He is terrific offensively but pulls off a lot of cheap fouls so if they are gonna call it, then make sure he can’t lift his arms at the foul line. He also is afraid to play defense and they hide him on D. Destroy all Hawks!!
