2021 B1G Tournament

Joe Lee already wrestled in the Scuffle. To say his difficulties are due to "inexperience" is nonsense. He may also be hurt, but I think his biggest issues seem to be between the ears. When you leave multiple matches after losses walking a good ways away from your coaches you have a problem. He needs to fix that first.

Ummm, the post you're referring to was not made in defense of Joe Lee... it was made on entirely different topic, but I think you know that, don't you? [insert eyeroll].

Howard very openly rejected Rutgers -- very early in the process, every time the topic came up, and more than a few times it didn't come up.

Said what is common knowledge -- that Rutgers isn't good enough.

Did I mention he wasn't shy about it?

It was never personal for him, but he's brash, and every time he said something, it became more and more personal for them.

This is one of the mildest things he said -- which is pretty mild, but one can see why Rutgers fans would go bonkers about it. LINK

Being a New Jersey kid, I’m sure Rutgers has a soft spot in your heart, so was it difficult to make a decision to go to Penn State over Rutgers at all?

RH:
No. A lot of people, because you live in New Jersey, they think Rutgers is not the be-all end-all, but they want to see the best kids go to Rutgers. People get upset. People are crazy about the sport and, in New Jersey, they love Rutgers. Obviously, people have been pushing me to go there, but it’s just not the place where I felt I could accomplish my goals. My goal is to be a four-time national champion, and the only person that has ever done that is Cael Sanderson. So, if anyone that is going to know how to do it again, it’s Coach Cael.
Good luck on being a 4x champ Howard

That’s unfortunate
The championship matches will be on the center mat (2, I think). 3rd and 5th on the outside mats. I can't recall if they usually run one weight at a time on the outer mats, or just let them run continuously.

I can't recall if they usually run one weight at a time on the outer mats, or just let them run continuously.

I believe in recent years they would wait until all 3 matches were completed, and then proceed to the next weight. As such, if there is a quick end in a final, the BTN TV feed has switched to coverage of the 3rd place or 5th place match.

But I'm going from memory, so my apologies if I'm incorrect.

I was wondering if others noticed that. Go look at the 1:01 mark in period 3. Berge takes a pretty solid head shot from Lee going out of bounds and almost appears to stumble for a moment coming back to the mat. From that point forward the "energy" level, or whatever you want to call it, seemed to shift in Lee's favor.

Praying it's not an issue, but given Brady's situation, even minor blows to the head take on more significance. I'll try to post a vid clip if I can figure out how (unless someone beats me to it).

EDIT: Here's a low quality vid clip.

Lee lead with his head at least three times on Berge, including the "stall call".

It's part of college Wrestling but in boxing you deduct a point.

We were sailing the Interclub Regatta out of Erie Yacht Club a few years ago and some guys brought back a few too many bottles of Tylenol w/codeine. The sailboat was seized by Homeland Security and held for close to a year. They weren't big fans of the floating pharmacy.

Wrong kind of Ballast?

Off topic, I'm of Irish decent. Took a Genealogy class last week. Ships leaving Ireland would use the immigrants as ship Ballast on the trip to Canada and then return from Canada to Ireland with badly needed timber.

It explained a lot.

None of these men walking off the mat look like they are carrying an asterisk under their arm. The NCAA Champs this year are the NCAA Champs. It's as simple as that.

Maybe it wasn't as obvious as I thought, but I was just goading our Hawkeye friends who post here. (My emoji icon is greyed out!)

Anyone getting. a live stream yet for the 5th and 3rd place matches on BTN +?

Howard loses 4-2 in the 5/6 match. Takes 6th.
