2021 Olympic Wrestling Match Thread and USA Wrestlers.

Eyeball Observations:

what attacks are scoring most? What positions are Americans winning? Any that aren’t traditional? Where are we losing? Are there specific positions that you’ve seen be critical in a repetitive manner, technique or tactic-wise?

I have a few thoughts, but trying to also use this period to be better for my guys and whatnot.
I haven’t watched a bunch but I am hearing we are ahead in the “passivity” position.

Sadulaev (Russia) is up now in a big match against AZE. Sad up 2-0 on a TD and now 4-0 on his brutal gut wrench. Still 4-0 at the break.

The Russian Tank drives out AZE to make it 5-0. And it ends that way.

A lot of history between these two. Both Dagestani and I believe they train together. Sadulaev probably idolized Sharifov coming up through the youth ranks.

Huh? They showed it on NBC (NBC has various Olympic sports on various channels.... the Dake match was the first match NBC showed on the Olympic Wrestling channel when coverage began at 10pm.).
The matches occurred at the same time. You could also watch Dake online while the Olympic TV channel showed Winchester.

Iran (Mohammadian) vs. Georgia (Odakadze). The Iranian is very good. I think he pinned Snyder if I'm not mistaken. But as the dance of chance would have it, the best guys are on the other side of Snyder's side of the bracket.

Odakadze is also very good. Has beaten Snyder, though Snyder got revenge.

Georgia leads 4-3 with less than a minute left. Wins 6-3. Gets Sadulaev in the quarterfinals.

i've had enough of this "4 medals in one session" talk. you can't claim steveson's (gold or silver) medal for session 10 and also claim taylor's gold medal. taylor had guaranteed a medal in session 8.

just needed to get that off my chest.

Last night Thomas Gilman revealed he suffered a Lis Franc injury on his foot during match 1 against Vito of the Trials. Multiple surgeons recommended an operation that would end his Olympic run. He sought another opinion, got things right and won Bronze.

Cuba's Salas up 4-2 over BLR in the 2nd period now. Salas holds on for a 4-3 win.

Jordan Burroughs later quoted "Lis Francs are for wusses". He's since applied for trademark rights.

@backdrft76 put this up on the ever changing name thread:

What do I have to deal with??? I was up at 5am to watch him win. Does it make you feel better to pretend that I was rooting against him? The face of your program just won Olympic gold and you're pissed off about an imaginary anti-taylor bias I have lol
Go troll somewhere else

Smith with a classic comment that a few of the officials should leave their shoes on the mat at the end of the Olympics.

Still don't understand the scoring in the women's match Smith made those comments in regards to. The losing wrestler got screwed out of 4 exposure points.
