2025 Big Ten Tournament thread

Sooner or later Iowa is going to realize they have a "branding" problem.

I'd have fired them when they let a non-student use their facilities for dangerous horsing around.

I could definitely be wrong btw! I am not a doctor and even if I were I’m not there to do an exam. But I do watch an unhealthy amount of sports and that did not seem like a “it’ll be fine with ice and a week off” type of limp
Wasn't much discussion on decision to throw in the towel.

141-Pound 3rd Place - Beau Bartlett VS Jesse Mendez (OSU)

Period 1:
That was a long break between matches. Hopefully, it gets faster from here. Here we go. Did anyone predict this as the 3rd place match? Tying up & pushing. Stoppage & restart. Mendez with a half shot, but then they're back to the tie ups. Beau pushes forward & drives Mendez out of bounds, restart. Mendez gets a stall call. Tying up & circling in the center. Mendez tries an underhook & drives Beau to the edge. Beau circles back in. Mendez takes Beau out of bounds & Beau gets a stall call. Back to the tie ups, hand fighting & circling. Mendez goes back to the underhook & is pushing Beau to the edge. Beau shoots & gets a leg. He sucks in it, but Mendez sprawls back hard & breaks the grip. Back to their feet tying up & circling. Stalemate & restart, 35-sec left. Beau shoots & gets to a leg, but Mendez fights him off. Back to circling in the center. More of the same for the rest of the period. 0-0

Period 2:
Beau takes down. He gets to his feet, then Mendez brings him back to the mat. Repeat that a second time. Beau gets to a quadpod, then his feet & almost gets away, but Mendez takes him out of bounds, restart. Beau is still down. He gets to a quadpod, then his feet. Mendez brings him back down & Beau rolls for the escape, 1-0. Mendez has +51-sec RT. Back to tying up, pushing, hand fighting & circling in the center. Mendez shoots, but Beau blocks him off. Mendez shoots again. Beau sprawls back & locks around the head, 15-sec left. They work back to their feet, but then time expires. 1-0 Beau

Period 3:
Mendez takes down. He's talking to the ref, then sent to the corner for a new headgear or a headgear repair. They should both be well rested for the 3rd. Mendez is down. He gets to his feet, but can't get hand control & Beau jacks him up & brings him back down. Out of bounds & restart. Mendez is still down. He sits out, turns & gets the escape, 1-1. Mendez has +33-sec RT. Circling in the center. Beau tries a straight on double, but Mendez blocks him off. Back to tying up. Mendez snaps & gets to a leg. Beau locks around the waist, then gets an ankle. They keep scrambling & Beau gets the TD, 4-1. Yeah Baby!! Beau takes Mendez out of bounds, restart. Mendez is still down, 27-sec left. OSU throws the brick & the zebras are back at the table. I thought they were out of bricks? Oh boy, another review! Woohoo! Plenty of time to grab another coffee. I'll be back...Easy peasy. I probably could have brewed a fresh pot the way these reviews are going today. Back to action. Mendez is still down. He rolls off the whistle, but Beau stays with him. Mendez gets to his feet, rolls again & gets the escape, 4-2. Mendez charges forward looking for a TD, but there's none to be found.

Beau Bartlett DEC Jesse Mendez 4-2

Beau Bartlett takes 3rd!

Davis can beat anyone. He also can lose to anyone. Right now he refuses to bail any position. I disagree with the sentiment that he can’t be a top 3 guy. I actually don’t think it would take much for him to be that.
I'm with ya. The world is his for the taking. He simply has no awareness at times.

Not sure it’s awareness.
More like a little over confidence.
He thinks he can roll with anyone.
Some dudes you are better off to let win the battle so you can win the war.
He’s a true sophomore.
Experiences like this will educate him.
