3 points for takedown and 1 point for escape

I'm Ok with the current rules, but I would support a 5 count for the 4 point NF over a 4 count. It's been discussed in depth, but clear up the OB rules and enforce the stalling rules and I think it's all good.
This.
I like the sport. I believe there simply needs to be a more universal understanding and enforcement.
As far as any rule changes go I agree with Brands - the officials need a seat at the table.

Take Cutch's match the other night. I think everyone would agree that was boring. Other than hitting guys for stalling (repeatedly if needed) I don't think any of these ideas change much. I don't think either guy did much of anything on top or bottom.

Or neutral for that matter.....agree with you, "a whole lot of nut'in" as far as real wrestling is concerned.

Cutch' strategy is to MattBrown his opponents neck and wear him out a bit due to his size- IMO

Instead of .5 for an escape, I would be in favor of any time a top wrestler is in complete control, he can request to release the bottom wrestler and no escape point is awarded. If while the top wrestler is attempting a turn and the bottom wrestler earns an escape, he earns 1 point. After an out of bounds, top guy can also request neutral, with no escape point being awarded.

How about 2 for a first period TD, 2.5 for a second period TD, and 3 for a third period TD?

I'm in the camp of keeping it simple ("KISS principle", for those that have heard that term). Anything that complicates the ref's role, the scorer's role, or is confusing to fans, isn't going to help the sport.

Guess I'm back to saying yes to a 3-point takedown (every one), with 1 point for an escape, and maybe think about increasing the points for majors and tech falls. Beyond that, another review of the last 2 year's stalling rule changes is in order...

I like the idea of 3 points for a takedown and a reversal. Think both are undervalued.

Agree on the 3 point TD and reversal. Don't like the 3 points for a TD but only 2 for a counter TD. Sounds like a good idea but it's so subjective the refs would spend more time reviewing TDs than we would wrestling.

I will add, anecdotally, that at least 1 recent rule change seems to me to have had a major positive effect. The rule about a wrestler getting the choice after opponent's injury time has seemed to reduce injury timeouts to near zero. I have not heard anyone claim that it added to the number of injuries (by wrestlers wanting to continue and getting hurt vs risk giving up an escape point on the restart), which was the fear. And I guess it kind of sucks to get disadvantaged when you get hurt, but the lung timeouts don't happen, nor do the "I am about to get turned, 'ow my arm' " injuries either.

My observation, without facts.

your eyes don't lie. I'll join you and make a consensus which is getting closer to fact!

Good observation. Unfortunately, coaches have been approaching the table, waving their arms, distracting the official, sort-of-but-not-really requesting video challenge, and requesting video challenge with enough frequency to compensate for all the lost lung-break injury TOs you reference. In fact, it would be very interesting to get some empirical data on that. There seems to be an inordinate number of match stoppages related to coaches' challenges, whether they officially challenge or not.

I think they need to change it, so that if a coach approaches the table to stop the match, he has to use a challenge. It's ridiculous how some coaches interrupt the match, for a lunger and ultimately never challenge anything.

This is what I would endorse. Still 2pts for TDs and reversals but zero points for an uncontested escape.
