Betting can certainly age you, witness today's Ohio State - Virginia Commonwealth game.

OSU was favored by four points. Game goes into overtime, so OSU bettors have a second chance to cover. OSU goes to the free throw line with 2.9 seconds left up three to attempt two free throws (can lose, push or win depending on whether player makes none, one or two), and he makes both to go up five --- which covers your bet.

Except for one thing. there are still 2.9 seconds left. VCU is out of time outs so has to play the ball in from under the OSU basket. Instead of taking a desperation shot or just dribbling once or twice as time runs out, VCU passes to a player who races down court and deposits an uncontested layup as the clock expires for a "meaningless" last second score and loses the game by three.

Not so "meaningless" if you bet OSU. You just lost your bet.

I didn't bet on this game, but if you do occasionally bet you're aware of the "game within the game" as happened today.
