All Things SENIOR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Thanks for the updates guys, I know that's usually my job but I've been too busy with work to watch anything live until just now.

Questionable exposure points to make it 4-1, I thought, but it's not like Snyder was robbed, he looked gassed about halfway through.
I think you're right.

If I use the VPN, I can't get on Rivals. If I don't use the VPN, I can't watch the match. So, I was watching on my computer and typing on my phone, so I only caught the tail end of that scoring sequence.

With Burroughs and and Snyder potentially not medaling, it'll be interesting to see how either scenario impacts Dake's and Cox's decision-making with respect to choosing an Olympic weight.

Dake could go down to 74kg or up to 86kg, and Cox could go down to 86k or up to 97kg. 86kg won't have a sitting medalist in the finals, and it's now possible that 74kg and 97kg won't either.

Having Dake, Taylor, and Cox--all recent world champs--all go 86kg would seem self-defeating from a US team perspective. If Taylor didn't get hurt and medaled here, 86kg might look less appetizing to Cox and Dake.

Or it might not matter to any of them--they'll just go the weight they feel they'd be best going at the Olympics. I imagine that's 86kg for Cox and Dake. But it does seem like 74kg and 97kg are now vulnerable to coups.

Let’s get all the weights qualified first. World Championships are the initial chance.

Crushing... on any stage... but especially a World stage.

Watching that clip of the last 50 seconds, two things stood out to me: 1) After JB gets the takedown with about 45 seconds to go in the match, he made zero efforts to even look like he was trying to get a turn from par terre. Even if he makes some legitimate attempts, it eats up another 5-7 seconds. 2) After being put back on their feet, JB didn't take a single step forward. He stood his ground; cleared an elbow a couple of times; but, even his hand-fighting was pretty passive. I'd imagine that it is pretty tough to hold off a World Champ for 40+ seconds when he knows he can attack without worrying about defending an attack.

JB looked great in the bronze medal match. Assuming Dake goes down will be interesting to see that next year

Sidakov has almost no trouble with Chamizo, defends his title. Russia being Russia. They cheat, but they don’t need to.

Burroughs and Snyder already qualified their weights by reaching the semis. 57kg, 65kg, 86kg, 125kg will need other tournaments.
Of course.

Next up, the Pan-American Continental Qualification Tournament in Ottawa, CAN, March 13-15, 2020 (top two per weight class qualify the weight). That is followed by the Final World Qualification Tournament in Sofia, Bulgaria, April 30 - May 3 (top two per weight class qualify the weight and only countries that have not qualified each weight can send a wrestler at that weight). That's it, two more shots -- chances near 100% we qualify all the freestyle weights.

Btw, Greco did not qualify any of their six weights, and the women qualified two (68 & 76kg) at the World Championships. Same opportunity as Men's Freestyle to qualify weights.

Who thinks J’Den beats Snyder next year if he decides to go up? I do. J’Den, Dake, and Sidakov have put themselves right behind Sadulaev in the p4p rankings in my mind. Would love to see J’Den vs Sadulaev. See if Sadulaev can crack Cox’s defense.

Who can go, just the team member or anyone? Specifically Zain and Yianni, DT (if healthy) and Downey, or just Zain and Downey?

I really wished JB got the gold because I think Dake beats him for the Olympic next year. Really wanted him to catch smiths gold medals

Graff in 3rd place match.

Graff clearly the aggressor in the first period, but trails 2-4 at the break.

Slick duck under, plus 2 and 2 for India. Challenge thrown, but is upheld. 2-11. 1:12 to go.

TD for Graff, but not enough time to turn. Ends 4-11.

Looked a little but like the big moment overwhelmed Tyler there. Feel bad for him.

Dake up now.

Gets a step out point. 1-0

Warning against Aze for passivity. Another pushout. 2-0

Break.

Dake gets poked in the eye more than anyone.

Pushout, plus fleeing. 4-0

Sho by Aze, Dake defends. Back to their feet.

Pushout Aze 4-1

Another Aze shot. Nothing.

Pushout Aze. 4-2

Kyle Dake is world champion.

So ridiculous that talents like Dake and Cox (and others around the world) don't have a natural weight at the Olympics.
