Alvin de Levie

Having grown up in State College, not far from campus on McCormick Avenue on the same street with a young Coach Paterno, Coach O’Hora, and Coach White, and with a father on the faculty and a mother who worked on campus, I am acutely aware of the culture and atmosphere that makes State College and Happy Valley a great place to live and visit. I am also acutely aware of the need for the University to be a good neighbor and work with the local residents and municipalities in me...eting the needs of the University, but at the same time working with the residents and municipalities so their needs are also met.

It is time to restore good town-and-gown relations.

Please visit my Facebook page, Alvin de Levie for Board of Trustees, for instructions on how to receive a ballot and how to nominate me for an Alumni seat on the PSU Board of Trustees.

I would like to hear your comments and thoughts regarding this post, as well as the posts I have previously made on my Facebook page. I take very seriously the position I am seeking and will always seek your input, thoughts and suggestions. WE ARE…in this together.

DeLevie and Short will make me happy. I voted to nominate Delevie because I know Brandon will get his number.

Mr. deLevie could call out Michnittlion as a wannabe UofM suck up and Mr. deLevie could gain 2,000 votes from the BWI Rivals Board.

He could. More effective than that would be for Mr. de Levie to seek out PS4RS' endorsement.

There are still folk (more than 2000!) who think PS4RS is relevant and follow their word.

Anyway, Mr. de Levie growing up on the same street as Joe Paterno is irrelevant as regards how good a Trustee he would be. Yet, he mentions it.

Hmmmmmm.

I will preface my comments with the fact joe Paterno is my personal hero. I love penn state and its athletic teams. My wife and I have donated large sums to the football program over the years.

That said, when are we going to find candidates for the bot that stay away from athletics and focus on the real problems this university has? It has a huge leadership problem. The budget is a disaster. We have too many commonwealth campuses. Our academic ratings continue to fall. Quality professors continue to leave. Top students are choosing elsewhere. Tuition is an ongoing mess. On and on. Stop using athletics to attempt to gain interest in getting votes. Athletics are the least of this schools problems right now.
