That is an interesting idea... how much time does Penn State spend on special teams vs O and D? I think there is a big payoff for having elite special teams. I don't know whether it makes sense to have a full time special teams coach, however. Maybe they could have secondary duties for a position and be the special teams coordinator, but a coach focusing on special teams full time seems an inappropriate use of a valuable resource.
I hope the hire is done next week and they hire someone who will be next in line for DC position. They gave Chaos responsibility for coordinating the running D. They need someone who can coordinate the passing D.
