Anyone have any idea what this Cael quote from today's presser infers?

It's probably something really innocuous like the white singlets.

No, can't be that, would involve all 10 weights, and Cael said one of the weights.

Wait, that would also rule out Nolf going to 165, because then there would be something different at 2 weights.

However, he said "one" of the matches is gonna be different. Singlets would be all the matches. Just sayin'.

Any chance Hall drops to 165, he looked pretty thinned out last bout.I know a little on weight rules, not quite sure if over his last 3 bouts he's been weighing in less each time and that allows him to drop to lower weight. Morrelli goes 174. Gives Joseph knee some rest before Duals and tournament. Just a thought.

Truthfully, it doesn't infer anything. What it implies is rather vague. What you or others infer from it remains to be seen.

Sorry, a pet peeve of mine. The speaker implies, and the listener/reader infers.

As for what CS said, I haven't a clue what he's implying. It could be as innocuous as Sunday being the final home match, and thus the day when seniors are honored, so perhaps a senior who is not a starter will take the mat for PSU against Maryland.

Last home weekend.

Does senior Brian Brill get a match vs Maryland in front of Rec Hall fans ?
This is the most likely and reasonable idea posted ... and thus also the most ignored on the board.

IDK if it will be Brill, but Cael probably will try to get a home match for some senior. Morelli is also a senior.

Maybe IMar is going up to 174 to face off with Hall, and Cael was already asked if he was cool with it (Heff didn't want it to be perceived wrong).

I have no clue what it is but it sounds like it could be a nice surprise for us fans. So to me bringing out a back-up senior for a nice gesture does not seem like something he would tease to us. No offense to those kids, cause I am sure they work hard in the room, but the fans do not usually get excited or come to duals to watch JV wrestlers. Well unless you are a fan of Tom Ryan and Ohio State.;)

That's probably it. A nice gesture to give a hard-working Senior back-up a start.

Missing weight once, especially while redshirting, doesn't necessarily mean much.
Of course it could.
As I said, it is just an eyeball measurement while they stand next to each other.
He ain't seeing 157 again

I also think this works against the idea that it's something like Cassar or Rasheed at 197. To me that doesn't seem like something Cael would throw out as a "teaser" to fans, since that would also entail McCutcheon losing his spot, and he's already spoken this season on how difficult these lineup decisions can be, both for him and the wrestlers involved.

Agree with you.

Maybe Cortez is cleared to wrestle?

No weight makes sense except Noooollllfffff at 65. He hasn't forgot and it will give Zain the Hodge
Unless Nolf is going 165 at BIGs or nationals, it makes zero sense. It takes a valuable match away from Vincenzo Joseph to gauge where he is at relative to the favorite and to get a feel for IMar to make changes to close the gap. A chance for a dual win for Nolf doesn't mean that much.

Imar will see him at BIGS, cenzo that is, and the coaches can make adjustments after that.
I highly doubt Nolf has forgotten that, err, those losses at the hands of IMAR and what better way to get some payback as it were. If cael had lost a match would he like another shot at that guy? Heck. i have almost talked myself into this theory.

Cortez had surgery for a torn labrum....give up hope already...he is done for a while
Whoa take it easy. Sorry i did not know he had surgery. All i knew was it was a shoulder injury and thats all. I had a torn labrium years ago from boxing, 9 months of rest and therapy before i was allowed to resume any training.

Both of you GTFO with your facts. What kind of message board do you think this is?

An uptight one? Sorry for throwing out a random guess. Wanna please share with me and the rest of us the correct answer to what Cael means? I just want the facts.:D

Sure. Instead of a match at 165, he is going to pull fans out of the stands to have a Fan vs Team Dodgeball game. He already has it sanctioned andis willing to give up 6 at 165 so the game can be extended from half time if need be. Sweet revenge for your Twitter Boy who mouthed off to IMar as he is the David Nolfruth of Dodgeball. He has a mystery move called the Bench Bash it is whispered...never seen in public but is rumored that Nevills injury last year was not a wrestling one...Ill let you use your imagination. Oh yea, Cenzo had to sit for a swollen testicle two matches ago from Dodgeball prep. Do you guys have no inside info?

It is also about the only one that can actually happen. People really should know by now that you can't just drop down a weight class whenever you want to.

He said one of the matches, not one of the weights. Illinois or Maryland is a match, too.

That was painful to watch

Yea, Terry was a massive 126. He could cut large amounts of weight and still wrestle very aggressively without getting tired. One of the Brands trademarks; they were freaks of nature in that respect.

Payback would be to defeat Imar in the NCAA Championships, nothing else. He already has a dual meet win and if he defeats Imar, that it doesn't deny Imar anything. His ranking or seed won't change and he still be the favorite to win 165. If he does repeat as champion, it won't be Nolf that is credited or remembered in history, but whoever knocks him off at NCAAs. It would be good for hype and as fans we'd love to see Jason avenge it, but it isn't a wise coaching move this season. If Nolf wants it that bad, then let him bump up this summer and go toe to toe with Imar next year and knock him off in Imar's last go at NCAAs.

Illinois and Maryland are duals made up of 10 matches each. That said he could have meant that.

The words "dual" and "match" are often used interchangeably, so what Cael really meant is still pretty ambiguous.

However, considering that Maryland doesn't have as strong of a program as some of the other Big 10 schools, Cael may be planning on giving some back-up guys a chance to wrestle in front of the home crowd. I seriously doubt that he would juggle weights around just to let one of his best wrestlers try to prove a point. There is not much to gain from that team wise, and the downside risk could be catastrophic for March.

How friggin' awesome would that be?!?!

It wouldn't be very awesome. VJ needs to wrestle IMar before the B1G tournament and NCAAs. Right now there is a gap between VJ and IMAR. You can't close that gap if VJ doesn't wrestle him.
