Anyone have any idea what this Cael quote from today's presser infers?

Although the original plan was to have spyker replace a struggling Gulibon in the lineup, he has finally sucked down to 133 and will be the new man there.

Reference to original plan (credit to Flo for starting the rumor):

Actually, I hear that spyker hit the weights HARD this past year, and not ever having attended college, decided to enroll at PSU this past fall. He has 4-years of eligibility, not including a redshirt year (he would never use it, anyway). And HE'S BEEN GOING TO PRACTICE!!! You should see how he gets the best of JG in the room. HE IS READY GUYS!!!!....Big things coming!!!!!!!!!!

I have no clue what it is but it sounds like it could be a nice surprise for us fans. So to me bringing out a back-up senior for a nice gesture does not seem like something he would tease to us. No offense to those kids, cause I am sure they work hard in the room, but the fans do not usually get excited or come to duals to watch JV wrestlers. Well unless you are a fan of Tom Ryan and Ohio State.;)

I think the fans at Rec Hall appreciate all the wrestlers. The crowd was probably at its loudest for the Carpenter match , and certainly the Livingston match vs Northwestern.

Yea, Terry was a massive 126. He could cut large amounts of weight and still wrestle very aggressively without getting tired. One of the Brands trademarks; they were freaks of nature in that respect.

The master of the weight cut was Ricky Bonomo. Dude was huge when he wrestled Jim Martin!!

...size does make a difference...
...Prescott was an 118#er wrestling up at 126#...
...Brands was probably 140-150# pulled down to 126#...

I was told Ricky had the weight up around 140 for an EWL final. Weigh ins were night b4

And that was at 118. Heard he could cut 15 pounds in a thirty six hour period. I was the weigh master for EWL's when they were at Bloomsburg University, by that time Ricky had graduated, but his weight cuts were legendary.

he just wants to see how creative this board can get... looking for a plan

What has happened to Ken Yanovich? Injured? I know he is on the roster but he has not wrestled this year. I saw him at the Southern Scuffle last year and their was a little excitement about him.

Maybe just T. Law getting one more shot at 133?

With senior day on Sunday against a team that we could shut out if we went full throttle with our starters, I expect we'll see some seniors to see the mat. What happens at 133 is inconsequential, though they could alternate between Law and Carpenter in the duals again.

Just for fun perhaps Suriano temporarily bumps up to 33 to see if he's "even in (Richards') league"? Would love to see it.

In other words ... The ability to destroy an opponent is insignificant next to the power of the Law ... Triston Law. :)

Didn't Willie and CP hint at some kind of surprise weeks ago? Did they end up saying it was about Nick Lee? If so, then that's what I'm hoping for.

Hingle McKringleberry is coming off football scholarship.
Your post reminded me of the Lehigh match in REC Hall in ~1967. Lehigh had a highly ranked heavyweight. Our normal heavyweight was a stiff. So who trots out for the bout than Mike Reid! Mike had wrestled some in high school. Well, he kicked the Lehigh wrestler's butt! It was no match at all. Reid's strength and athleticism overwhelmed the Lehigh guy even though he was a lot bigger than Mike. That is a match I will never forget.

Let Brill (65), Morelli (74), and Livingston (84) wrestle on senior day! The match will be over at halftime if not sooner.

I think Brill and Livingston's weights would be switched but I agree. Let them go! I think they could all win against Maryland too

You make it sound like they pulled Reid out of the stands. He was our "normal heavyweight" but he had to wait until football was over. He was the EIWA champion that year.

I didn't know much about wrestling then and don't know much about it now. I just remember the excitement in Rec Hall when Mike came out to wrestle. The place went wild and then got even noisier when he beat the crap out of the Lehigh kid.

I'm pretty sure that Reid only faced a Lehigh wrestler 1 time -- on 3/1/1967. He defeated Lehigh's Frank Paquin -- a former HS state champ at heavyweight in Ohio -- 5-3. Paquin and Reid both made it to the NCAAs that year. Paquin lost to the eventual champ, Curley Culp of Arizona State, in R2 of the NCAAs, 15-5. Reid got pinned in R3 of the NCAAs by Granville Liggins, of the Univ. of Oklahoma. Liggins went on to lose to Curley Culp in the NCAA semis. Like most heavyweights, Cup also played football in college. Culp got drafted by the Denver Broncos, but was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs during training camp. He went on to play with a few more teams, and is now a member of the NFL HOF.

It's probably something really innocuous like the white singlets.

No, can't be that, would involve all 10 weights, and Cael said one of the weights.

Wait, that would also rule out Nolf going to 165, because then there would be something different at 2 weights.
Nolf is going to wrestle both weights 157/165

Thanks for the details, Tom. I was a Frosh at PSU in March of 1967 living in West Halls. That is a long time ago and my memory is fading! I do still have a mental image of Reid in that match. Rec Hall was electric during the match.

If they started the dual at 165 he probably could with no problem.

Not that I think it would happen but is there any rule against one guy going at multiple weights.

I think he could do it back to back and win both. Against Maryland anyway...

Edit..He could do it against most teams now that I think about it.

too bad Diehl is at 141 ... would love to see that re-match, but we'll have Jimmy do the dirty work for Nolf

I don't even think Diehl starts at Maryland. Wrestlestat has him at 149 and he's 3-1 this year.

http://www.wrestlestat.com/wrestler/40240/diehl-ryan/profile

Nolf did him very dirty at the Disney Duals in 2013, though. He almost ripped his arm off his body. I felt a little bad for Diehl, but I also remember that hew as absolutely brutal to his opponents in high school and had no problem absolutely destroying them physically. He beat Nolf in high school because he was a lot stronger than he was at the time. He brute forced him most of the match.

Sure. Instead of a match at 165, he is going to pull fans out of the stands to have a Fan vs Team Dodgeball game. He already has it sanctioned andis willing to give up 6 at 165 so the game can be extended from half time if need be. Sweet revenge for your Twitter Boy who mouthed off to IMar as he is the David Nolfruth of Dodgeball. He has a mystery move called the Bench Bash it is whispered...never seen in public but is rumored that Nevills injury last year was not a wrestling one...Ill let you use your imagination. Oh yea, Cenzo had to sit for a swollen testicle two matches ago from Dodgeball prep. Do you guys have no inside info?

Thank You!!! Finally a realistic scenario.:)
