Anyone remember Dick Vermeil calling Penn State-Iowa in 1993?

Dick didn't win a Super Bowl by not being observant. I looked for the clip on You Tube but could not find it - somebody will dig it up.

I remember that....but for some reason I don't think it was that game.
I have no basis for that other than my memory though...

I thought Vermeil said that about our passing game, which was bad that day.

I don't remember which game it was but it wasn't "the Penn State offense really sucks". It was something like "the Penn State passing game sucks". Vermeil was chopping up our passing game. Kerry didn't put it all together until the last game against Michigan State that year.

If I remember correctly....Dick got some blow back from that comment, and apologized to Joe for saying it. Joe's response (paraphrasing): ...Don't apologize, you were right!

IIRC, Vermeil owned a cabin somewhere near State College. I seem to remember him saying one of the perks of doing a game at Beaver Stadium was that he could stay at his own place.
Always liked the announcing team of Musberger and Vermeil.
As many may know his daughter Diane was a Penn Stater and a sister at Pi Beta Phi.
musberger and he were a very good team. ran into them at breakfast the morning of that game at the then holiday inn in downtown
iowa city. they were very appreciative when we told them how much we enjoyed their broadcasts.
Makes no sense since we shut them out that day. Also makes no sense 'cause you're wrong.

Bud helped me out of a jam for the 2010 PSU at Alabama game. My tickets got shipped via UPS and wouldn't make it to my house before we flew out for the game. He came through. Good man...
I talk to him for a bit during most home games. He’s such a nice guy, and seems to know absolutely everyone.
I’ll need to ask him about Dick Vermeil next Saturday.
I remember it was apparent both of them were drinking during the game and they even made some vague references to it.

During the Iowa game in 1993, he said, on the air, "The passing game, right now, sucks." And he was right. Vermeil was a GREAT football analyst. He saw everything. He could be really funny, he had a lot of insights and he was honest without being negative. Vermeil was also one of the first to point out how good that PSU offense was once it got rolling.
Indeed she was. I used to sit with her in some class we had together. No idea what class it was, but I do recall she was quite pretty.
Ask him why they treat his name like a curse word in the office. Bud is the best. Too bad his job had to go to an outsider. And the first year he is fully gone they **** up the tickets. Coincidence or incompetence
Can’t be too bad today, because his grandson is working there...anyways, there will be changes coming pretty soon to the ticket office staff.
John Sacca transferred to Eastern Kty. in mid-season iirc, where he had an ok career. Pre-Xfer portal days!

I’m saying that I’m sure that they aren’t “treating his name like a curse word” around his grandson. I’m also sure that they don’t give him nearly the respect that he deserves, or that they would have had nearly the number of issues they’ve had the past few years if he was still around.
that’s it. I remember it like yesterday. I had the game on VCR. I thought it was so funny i took it to work to prove to my fellow PS’ers that it happened.
