Football James Franklin's gusty decisions help seal 26-25 victory for Penn State

Brosmer had a decent game except for the INT and their wife receivers significantly outperformed ours.
Allar was heavily criticized today--yet Allar had a higher completion percentage and more yards with WRs that were significantly outplayed.

lol Penn state 244 yards passing Minnesota 175.

We beat Minneapolis in every measurable stat except for 3rd down conversions.

It wasn't pretty, but it's a win. The same "this will be a tough game" posters act shocked during the game thread that we aren't winning by 30. Some outright predict losses then get mad the Minny didn't lay down from the opening snap.

Still rooting for Army but they have no shot. You can tell they've played the 134th hardest schedule aka the easiest one.

PSU's pass coverage is questionable. Every team finds lots of open spots.
To be fair, in a zone defense there's always going to be open spots if your receivers can read a defense--Minnesota did a solid job finding those today
I'm actually shocked teams don't play more zone against us because our WRs are NOT good at that other than Clifford

We have some of the worst fans ever. Just pathetic posts throughout the game. The ones who are loudest about deserving a winner are the ones who least deserve it. Please find another hobby.

What cracks me up is that these are the same arseholes who say crap like the 2-loss SEC teams are better.... 'Ole Miss is a great team and would destroy us in the Playoffs - blah, blah, blah...... but they have no explanation how 'Ole Miss can lose to Florida - a team that came into this weekend with 5 losses! Minnesota is easily as good as Florida and....... PSU didn't lose @Minny the way 'Ole Miss lost @UFla with a playoff berth on the line.

Maybe they can explain how 'Ole Miss is so awesome but they lost to a mediocre to bad Florida team to lose a playoff berth.

Did we have a sack?

I believe we had what, 1 conversion on 3rd down, and handed them 9 pts...yet still won against a solid team. Amazing. What a sport.
Rojas had the only sack per the box score. Minny sacked Allar twice. PSU DLine has had their moments and also been pretty average during stretches as well.

PSU DE's and LB's over run too many potential sacks. They need to slow down a little when they're free to the QB and make sure they tackle him. One little move and they fly by wasting too many opportunities with some of the resulting scrambles ending up as 1st downs ... DDS seems to be leading the B10 in that category.

According to the box score, we had 1 (Rojas).

9 TFLs as well.

Our 3rd down conversion rate is what neutralized the advantage we had everywhere else. Minnesota was aided greatly by special teams (punt block, XP block return for 2), but our fake punt run by Reynolds was a huge part in sealing the game.

Durant was an animal tonight. Our 3rd down conversion rate has struggled especially since we can't run consistently in these bigger games.

We have entirely too much going on for an offense. We haven't tried to settle into a running attack since UCLA. We aren't an inside nor outside zone team. We run too many slow developing runs straight into the teeth of heavy boxes. We use a little bit of pin and pull, but not enough to be characterized by it. Throw in all of the Beau package stuff and it's very disjointed at times.

Our offense shows glimpses of being great, but outside of Warren we just don't have consistent play makers. It's as if AK think he has inferior talent and tries to keep opponents guessing every down when in reality we out-talent everyone but OSU.

This game was a perfect reflection of the year.

There is a group of reasonably competitive middle-of-the-pack teams in the conference. Minnesota is one of them. PSU is slightly better than these teams. It is a solid Conference #3.

A Conference #3 would not be good enough to get voted into the previous Top 4 playoff system. I would expect that this will be confirmed on the field this year. Reaching the Final 4 is unlikely. It is much more likely that this year will be like most other Franklin years. Respectable, but not good enough to win a Big Game against a complete team that has had time to prepare.

I agree on our over persuing the qb trying to get a sack. The other thing our DL doesn't do is put their hands up to knock down passes or tip them.
